충남 서산시가 제25회 서산국화축제를 11월 7일부터 16일까지 고북면 복남골길 31-1 일원에서 개최한다.

◆ 주민이 만든 25년 전통 축제

고북면 이장단협의회가 주관하고 서산시가 후원하는 이 축제는 주민 주도형 가을꽃 축제다. 지역 주민들이 축제장 조성부터 운영까지 담당한다. 매년 전국에서 6만여 명이 방문한다.

◆ 한반도 지도 정원 등 조형물 조성

축제장에는 한반도 지도 정원, 달팽이 전망대, 대형 하트 정원, 동물 토피어리 광장, 꽃탑이 조성됐다. 조롱박 터널과 구기자 터널도 설치했다.

◆ 국화 따기 체험·공연 등 진행

국화꽃 따기 체험, 국악·풍물 공연, 농특산물 판매, 초대 가수 공연이 열린다.

이남직 고북면이장단협의회 회장은 "기후 여건이 좋지 않아 국화 관리가 어려웠지만, 주민들이 노력해 국화 정원을 완성했다"고 말했다.

이완섭 서산시장은 "시민들의 관심과 참여를 바란다"고 밝혔다.

Seosan City, South Chungcheong Province will host the 25th Seosan Chrysanthemum Festival from Nov. 7 to 16 at 31-1 Boknamgol-gil, Gobuk-myeon.

◆ 25-Year Tradition Created by Residents

The festival is organized by the Gobuk-myeon Village Chiefs' Council and sponsored by Seosan City. Residents lead the festival from venue setup to operations. The event attracts 60,000 visitors nationwide each year.

◆ Korean Peninsula Map Garden and Other Installations

The festival features a Korean Peninsula map garden, snail observatory, large heart garden, animal topiary plaza, and flower tower. A bottle gourd tunnel and goji berry tunnel are also installed.

◆ Chrysanthemum Picking Experience and Performances

Programs include chrysanthemum picking, Korean traditional music and folk performances, local produce sales, and guest artist concerts.

Lee Nam-jik, chairman of the Gobuk-myeon Village Chiefs' Council, said, "Despite difficult climate conditions for chrysanthemum care, residents worked together to complete the garden."

Lee Wan-seop, mayor of Seosan City, stated, "We hope for citizens' interest and participation."
