◆ 일일 역대 최다 관람객 5,253명 기록
충남 서산시가 11월 1일부터 2일까지 서산버드랜드에서 제14회 아시아 조류박람회를 개최했다. 박람회는 1만여 명이 방문하며 막을 내렸다.
서산시는 3일 1일 단독으로 5,253명이 서산버드랜드를 찾았다고 밝혔다. 이는 서산버드랜드 개관 이래 일일 최다 관람객 기록이다.
◆ 18개국 200여 명 참가
박람회는 10월 31일 환영 만찬으로 시작했다. 1일부터 2일까지 '한국의 둥지 천수만, 세계의 둥지 서산에 틀다'를 주제로 38개 프로그램을 운영했다.
중국, 일본, 미국, 에콰도르 등 18개국 45개 조류 관련 기관·단체 관계자 200여 명이 참가했다. 참가 기관들은 국가별 조류·탐조관광·광학기계, 생태보전활동을 소개하는 부스를 운영했다.
서산시 시민 통역 서포터즈와 한서대학교 유학생들이 통역 봉사활동을 했다.

◆ 전문가 세미나·다양한 체험 프로그램 운영
국내외 조류 전문가들이 조류 탐조와 환경보호 세미나를 진행했다. 한·영 동시통역기를 통해 일반 관람객들도 참여했다.
개막식에서는 '인간과 야생조류의 공존'을 주제로 한 퍼포먼스가 열렸다. 퍼포먼스 중 서산버드랜드의 황새 부부가 하늘로 날아올랐다.
박람회는 철새기행전을 병행했다. 조류 관찰 체험, 그림그리기 대회, 전시회, 공연 등을 진행했다.
◆ "지속 가능한 생태관광 활성화 최선"
이완섭 서산시장은 "서산 천수만은 전 세계 흑두루미의 70% 이상이 찾는 중간 기착지"라며 "지속 가능한 생태관광 활성화에 최선을 다하겠다"라고 말했다.
앤드류 세바스찬 아시아 조류박람회 공동대표는 "제14회 아시아조류박람회는 역대 최고의 박람회"라며 "완벽한 행사를 준비한 서산시에 감사하다"라고 말했다.

Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province held the 14th Asian Bird Fair at Seosan Birdland from November 1 to 2. The fair concluded with approximately 10,000 visitors.
Seosan City announced on the 3rd that 5,253 people visited Seosan Birdland on November 1 alone. This marks the highest single-day attendance since Seosan Birdland opened.
◆ 200 Participants from 18 Countries
The fair began with a welcome dinner on October 31. From November 1 to 2, organizers operated 38 programs under the theme "Korea's Nest Cheonsu Bay, Building the World's Nest in Seosan."
About 200 officials from 45 bird-related organizations from 18 countries including China, Japan, the United States, and Ecuador participated. Participating organizations operated booths introducing national birds, bird-watching tourism, optical equipment, and ecological conservation activities.
Seosan City citizen interpreter supporters and international students from Hanseo University provided interpretation volunteer services.
◆ Expert Seminars and Diverse Experience Programs
Domestic and international bird experts conducted seminars on bird watching and environmental protection. General visitors also participated through Korean-English simultaneous interpretation devices.
The opening ceremony featured a performance themed "Coexistence of Humans and Wild Birds." During the performance, a pair of storks, the symbol of Seosan Birdland, flew into the sky.
The fair ran concurrently with the Migratory Bird Travel Exhibition. Organizers conducted bird observation experiences, drawing contests, exhibitions, and performances.
◆ "Will Do Our Best for Sustainable Eco-Tourism"
Mayor Lee Wan-seop of Seosan City said, "Seosan Cheonsu Bay is a crucial stopover site visited by more than 70% of the world's hooded cranes," adding "We will do our best to promote sustainable eco-tourism."
Andrew Sebastian, co-representative of the Asian Bird Fair, said, "The 14th Asian Bird Fair was the best fair ever," adding "I thank Seosan City for preparing a perfect event."
