송언석 국민의힘 원내대표가 27일 최민희 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원장에게 즉각 사퇴를 촉구했다.

송 원내대표는 이날 최고위원회의에서 "피감기관 관계자들로부터 100만원씩 받은 건 적은 돈이 아니다"며 "최 위원장은 그 자리에 머물러있을 자격이 없다. 즉각 과방위원장직을 사퇴하고 성실히 수사에 임하라"고 밝혔다.

앞서 서울신문은 26일 최 의원이 국회 본회의장에서 피감기관, 대기업, 언론사 관계자들의 이름과 축의금 액수가 적힌 명단을 보좌진에게 전달하는 사진을 보도했다. 한 이동통신사 대표는 100만원, 과학기술원 관계자는 20만원, 정당 대표는 50만원, 종합편성채널 관계자 2명은 각 30만원의 축의금을 보냈다.

송 원내대표는 "김영란법 위반 소지가 다분하고 뇌물 수수 소지도 많다고 법조계에서 말들이 많다"며 "뇌물은 돌려주더라도 죄가 성립한다는 것이 법조계의 중론"이라고 말했다.

최 의원 측은 "기관 및 기업으로부터 들어온 축의금을 돌려드리도록 보좌진에게 지시하는 내용"이라며 "상임위 관련 기관·기업 등으로부터 들어온 축의금을 즉시 반환하기로 했다"고 해명했다.

박성훈 국민의힘 수석대변인은 "김영란법 위반과 묶어서 관련 법적 절차를 진행하겠다"고 밝혔다.
