충북 영동군은 2026년도 지방소멸대응기금 투자계획 평가에서 우수 등급을 받았다. 영동군은 총 120억 원을 확보했다. 지방소멸위험 감소지역 89곳 중 8곳만 받을 수 있는 최고 등급이다. 충북 도내에서 유일하게 120억 원을 배정받았다.
◆ 일라이트 기반 전략사업 높은 평가
영동군은 기존 전략사업으로 일라이트 특화 산업단지 조성, YD-ILLITE 표준화 R&D 프로젝트, 청년 임대 일라이트 스마트팜을 추진했다. 영동군은 프로그램 사업으로 '포래스트(Four來st) 영동'과 'Together in Yeongdong'을 추가 제출해 평가 가점을 확보했다. 일라이트 기반 신산업 육성, 스마트팜 중심 농산업 혁신, 축제·관광 콘텐츠 확장 전략은 청년 정착과 일자리 창출, 기술창업, 관계인구 확대를 아우르는 종합적 접근으로 높은 점수를 받았다. 세계 최대급 일라이트 자원을 활용한 산업단지 조성과 표준화 R&D 추진은 영동만의 고유 경쟁력을 구축하는 기반으로 인정받았다.
◆ 120억 원 전략 분야 집중 투입
영동군은 확보한 120억 원을 산업단지 정착 기반, R&D 역량 강화, 스마트팜 혁신벨트 구축, 사계절 관광 프로그램 고도화, 지역공동체 활성화 등 전략 분야에 집중 투입할 계획이다. 군 관계자는 "영동형 성장모델이 외부 평가에서 우수성을 인정받았다"며 "청년이 돌아오고 기업이 찾고 주민이 머무는 영동을 완성하겠다"고 밝혔다. 지방소멸대응기금은 우수 등급 120억 원, S등급 88억 원, A등급 80억 원, B등급 72억 원을 지원한다.

◆ Top Grade Given to Only 8 Out of 89 Areas Nationwide
Yeongdong-gun, Chungbuk, received an 'Excellent' grade in the 2026 Local Extinction Response Fund investment plan evaluation. Yeongdong-gun secured a total of 12 billion won. This is the highest grade given to only 8 out of 89 areas classified as 'declining areas' at risk of local extinction. Yeongdong-gun is the only county in Chungbuk Province to receive 12 billion won.
◆ Illite-Based Strategic Projects Highly Evaluated
Yeongdong-gun promoted existing strategic projects including illite-specialized industrial complex development, YD-ILLITE standardization R&D project, and youth rental illite smart farm. Yeongdong-gun additionally submitted 'Forest(Four來st) Yeongdong' and 'Together in Yeongdong' as program projects to secure evaluation bonus points. The strategies for illite-based new industry development, smart farm-centered agricultural innovation, and festival and tourism content expansion received high scores as a comprehensive approach covering youth settlement, job creation, tech startups, and relationship population expansion. The industrial complex development and standardization R&D using the world's largest illite resources were recognized as a foundation for building Yeongdong's unique competitiveness.
◆ 12 Billion Won to Be Invested in Strategic Areas
Yeongdong-gun plans to intensively invest the secured 12 billion won in strategic areas including industrial complex settlement foundation, R&D capacity strengthening, smart farm innovation belt construction, year-round tourism program advancement, and local community revitalization. A county official said, "The Yeongdong-type growth model has been recognized for its excellence in external evaluation," and added, "We will complete Yeongdong where young people return, companies visit, and residents stay." The Local Extinction Response Fund supports 12 billion won for Excellent grade, 8.8 billion won for S grade, 8 billion won for A grade, and 7.2 billion won for B grade.
