곽명환 충주시의회 부의장, 내년 충주시장 출마 공식 선언

◆ 충주시청서 기자회견 열고 출마 선언

더불어민주당 곽명환 충주시의회 부의장이 내년 지방선거에서 충주시장 출마를 공식 선언했다. 곽 부의장은 24일 충주시청에서 기자회견을 열고 "성장이 멈춘 충주를 다시 뛰게 할 힘 있는 시장이 필요하다"며 "새로운 미래 비전을 제시하고 시정을 혁신하겠다"고 밝혔다. 그는 "중앙 정치권에서 내려오는 후보들과 달리 충주에서 살며 경험한 것이 중요하다"며 "8년간 의정활동을 통해 복지·경제·의료 등 여러 분야를 다뤄본 내가 시장 후보로 적임자"라고 강조했다.

◆ 2018년 35세 최연소 당선…재선 의원

곽 부의장은 2018년 35세에 시의원으로 처음 당선된 재선 의원이다. 지난 8년간 충주시 교복지원 조례 제정, 복지 사각지대 발굴 체계화, 전 시민 독감백신 무료접종 확대, 장기요양요원 처우개선비 마련 등 세대와 계층을 아우르는 다양한 정책을 펼쳐왔다.

◆ 충주 토박이…청년회의소 위원장 역임

곽 부의장은 충주 교현초·충주중·충주공업고를 거쳐 충주대학교 건축공학과를 졸업했다. 현재 충주청년회의소 위원장과 민주평통 충주시협의회 간사를 맡고 있다. 제19대 대통령선거 당시 문재인 후보 조직특보, 제20대 대선에서 이재명 후보 충북청년본부장을 역임했다.

Over the past 8 years, he has implemented various policies spanning generations and classes, including enacting the Chungju school uniform support ordinance, systematizing welfare blind spot discovery, expanding free flu vaccination for all citizens, and securing treatment improvement funds for long-term care workers.

◆ Chungju Native…Serves as Youth Chamber Chairman

Vice Chairman Kwak graduated from Chungju Gyohyeon Elementary School, Chungju Middle School, and Chungju Technical High School, followed by Chungju University's Department of Architectural Engineering. He currently serves as Chairman of Chungju Junior Chamber and Secretary of the National Unification Advisory Council Chungju Chapter. He served as Organization Special Advisor for candidate Moon Jae-in during the 19th presidential election and as Chungbuk Youth Headquarters Chief for candidate Lee Jae-myung during the 20th presidential election.
