김문근 단양군수 "세계지질공원, 단양 관광 새 성장축 될 것"

◆ 유네스코 세계지질공원 지정 성과 강조

김문근 충북 단양군수는 24일 제341회 군의회 제2차 정례회 시정연설에서 "세계지질공원 지정은 단양 관광의 새로운 성장축이 될 것"이라고 밝혔다. 김 군수는 유네스코 세계지질공원 지정을 올해 군정 첫 번째 성과로 꼽았다. 그는 지난 22일 도담삼봉에서 군민들과 함께 내년을 '단양 방문의 해'로 선포했다.

◆ 주요 관광 인프라 사업 완공 계획

김 군수는 "내년에는 지질 탐방·교육·명소 연계 프로그램을 개발하고 지질공원 브랜드화에 속도를 내겠다"고 강조했다. 시루섬 생태탐방교, 단양순환길, 생태탐방센터, 다리안 유스호스텔 재생 등 주요 관광 인프라 확충 사업도 내년 완공 예정이다. 김 군수는 "머물고 싶은 관광도시로 한 단계 더 도약하게 될 것"이라고 자신했다.

◆ 2026년 예산 4949억원 편성

김 군수는 내년도 주요 추진사업으로 지질공원 커뮤니티센터, 비치파크, 명승문화마을, 단양역 복합관광단지, 올산 골프·리조트 등을 제시했다. 단양군은 내달 19일까지 열리는 이번 정례회에 2026년 본예산안 4949억원을 제출했다. 이는 올해 본예산보다 14% 증액된 규모다.

Governor Kim emphasized that "next year, we will develop geopark exploration, education, and attraction-linked programs and accelerate geopark branding." Major tourism infrastructure projects including Siruseom Ecological Trail Bridge, Danyang Circular Trail, Ecological Exploration Center, and Darian Youth Hostel renovation are scheduled for completion next year. Kim expressed confidence that "Danyang will take another leap forward as a city where visitors want to stay."

◆ 2026 Budget Set at 494.9 Billion Won

Governor Kim presented key projects for next year including Geopark Community Center, Beach Park, Scenic Cultural Village, Danyang Station Complex Tourism District, and Olsan Golf Resort. Danyang County submitted the 2026 budget proposal of 494.9 billion won to the regular session running until December 19. This represents a 14% increase from this year's original budget.
