■ 민‧관 총출동, 도민체전 준비 공식화
음성군이 2026년 충북도민체육대회 개막 300일을 앞두고 본격적인 준비 체제에 돌입한다. 군은 오는 14일 음성체육관에서 추진위원회 발대식과 D-300 기념행사를 열고 대회 준비의 공식 시작을 대내외에 알린다. 행사에는 조병옥 음성군수와 지역 기관·사회단체, 체육회 임원, 주민 등 400여 명이 참석해 성공 개최 의지를 다질 예정이다.
■ 234명 ‘추진위원회’ 가동… 대회 운영 전반 총괄
이번 대회를 이끌 추진위원회는 각계 전문가와 지역 인사 234명으로 구성돼 경기장 정비, 운영 지원, 후원 유치, 홍보, 시민 참여 확대 등 전반적인 업무를 맡는다. 위촉장 수여와 성공기원 퍼포먼스를 시작으로, 향후 300일 동안 분과별 실무 협의와 현장 점검을 통해 세부 실행계획을 완성해갈 방침이다.
■ 경기장·숙박·교통 등 현안 산적… 실행계획 구체화 필요
음성군은 대회 전까지 경기장 28곳과 장애인체전 경기장 17곳의 정비와 안전 점검을 완료해야 한다. 여기에 방문 선수단과 관람객을 수용할 숙박·교통 인프라 확충, 셔틀 운영계획 마련, 자원봉사자 조직과 교육 체계 구축 등 해결해야 할 과제도 적지 않다. 개·폐회식 연출과 문화공연 구성, 성화봉송 코스 설계 등 핵심 프로그램 역시 아직 구체화 단계에 있다.
■ “군민 모두가 주인공”… 참여형 스포츠 축제 목표
음성군은 주민 참여와 지역경제 활성화를 대회 핵심 가치로 설정하고, 홍보 강화와 참여 캠페인을 확대할 계획이다. 특히 읍·면 단위 응원단 조직, 지역 상권과 연계한 체전 특화 콘텐츠 개발 등을 통해 ‘군민이 직접 만드는 축제형 체육대회’를 표방한다. 군 관계자는 “도민체전이 음성군의 위상을 높이고 체육 도시로 도약하는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “군민과 함께 완성도 높은 대회를 만들겠다”고 강조했다.
■ 300일의 카운트다운… 준비 속도가 성패 가를 듯
제65회 충북도민체육대회는 2026년 9월 10~12일 사흘간 개최되며, 장애인체육대회는 같은 해 8월 27~28일 열린다. 남은 기간 동안 경기장 정비, 숙박·교통 확보, 자원봉사·운영 인력 체계 구축 등 필수 과제가 얼마나 속도감 있게 완성되느냐가 대회 성공의 분수령이 될 전망이다. 초기 조직 구성은 갖춰진 만큼 이제는 현장 중심의 실행력이 요구되는 시점이다.

■ Government–Community Coalition Launches Official Preparations
Eumseong County has entered full-scale preparations for the 2026 Chungcheongbuk-do Sports Festival, now 300 days ahead of the opening. On the 14th, the county will hold an official launch ceremony for the Organizing Committee and a D-300 commemorative event at Eumseong Gymnasium. Approximately 400 participants—including County Mayor Cho Byeong-ok, local institution and community leaders, sports officials, and residents—are expected to attend, reaffirming their commitment to a successful event.
■ 234-Member Organizing Committee Begins Work
The Organizing Committee, consisting of 234 experts and local representatives, will oversee all major tasks, including venue maintenance, operational support, sponsorship coordination, public relations, and citizen engagement. With appointment certificates to be issued at the ceremony, the committee plans to refine operational details through working-group meetings and on-site inspections over the next 300 days.
■ Venue Readiness, Lodging, Transportation Remain Key Challenges
Eumseong County must complete maintenance and safety inspections for 28 main competition venues and 17 additional venues for the Para Sports Festival. Additional challenges include expanding lodging and transportation capacity for athletes and visitors, coordinating shuttle services, and organizing volunteer and operations personnel. Core programs—such as the opening and closing ceremonies, cultural performances, and the torch relay—are still under development.
■ Toward a Resident-Driven Festival
The county aims to build a community-driven sports festival that enhances local pride and stimulates the regional economy. Plans include expanding promotional campaigns, organizing cheering groups at the township level, and creating festival-linked programs in collaboration with local businesses. A county official emphasized that the event will position Eumseong as a rising sports city and pledged to prepare a high-quality festival with broad community participation.
■ 300-Day Countdown Begins—Execution to Determine Success
The 65th Chungcheongbuk-do Sports Festival will take place from September 10 to 12, 2026, while the Para Sports Festival will be held earlier, on August 27–28. The success of the events will depend on how swiftly the county completes essential tasks such as venue upgrades, accommodation and transportation planning, and workforce preparation. With the organizational framework now established, practical on-site execution will be critical in the months ahead.
