충남도가 계룡시를 국방 중심지로 육성하기 위해 국방 공공기관 유치와 계룡역 환승센터 조성 사업에 행정력을 집중한다.

김태흠 지사는 30일 민선8기 4년 차 시군 방문 13번째 일정으로 계룡시를 찾아 도민과 미래 발전 방안을 논의했다.

김 지사는 이날 언론인 간담회와 도민과의 대화를 진행한 후 계룡시 병영체험관을 방문하고 두마∼노성 지방도 645호 확포장 공사 착공식에 참석했다.

도민과의 대화는 계룡 문화예술의 전당 대공연장에서 이응우 계룡시장과 시민 등 600여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행했다.

김 지사는 계룡 발전을 위해 △국방기관 유치 △계룡역 환승센터 조성 △공공임대형 지식산업센터 조성 △밀리터리 테마파크 조성 등을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.

도는 제2차 수도권 공공기관 지방 이전에 맞춰 국방 관련 공공기관 유치에 나선다. 계룡에 3군본부와 계룡대가 있고 인근에 국방과학연구소와 국방대가 입지한 점을 부각시켜 국방신속획득기술연구원, 한국국방연구원 등 유치에 집중한다.

도는 국립군사박물관 건립이 국가 사업으로 채택될 수 있도록 국방부에 지속 요청할 방침이다.

계룡역 환승센터는 충청권 광역철도 1단계와 연계해 계룡역의 주차 공간을 확보하고 인근 지자체 대중교통과 연계 체계를 구축하기 위한 사업이다.

2021년 7월 '제4차 대도시권 광역교통 시행계획'에 반영됐으며 지난 4월 행정안전부 중앙투자심사를 통과했다. 2027년까지 계룡역-환승센터 연결 통로, 환승 주차장, 진입 교량 조성 공사를 추진한다.

공공임대형 지식산업센터는 계룡 제2산업단지 내 4,883㎡에 총 275억 원을 투입해 연면적 1만 308㎡ 규모로 건립한다. 신규 창업 기업이나 벤처기업에 저렴한 임대 공간과 맞춤형 지원 프로그램을 제공한다.

밀리터리 테마파크는 전국 유일 군문화관광벨트 구축을 위해 조성을 추진하고 있다. 2024년 3월 개관한 병영체험관에서는 밀리터리 아카데미, 가상현실(VR)체험관 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영한다. VR체험존에서는 가상 전투 및 육군 탱크·해군 잠수함·공군 전투기 등을 체험할 수 있다.

두마∼노성 지방도 645호 확포장 공사는 계룡시 엄사면 유동리에서 논산시 상월면까지 국도 1·4호선과 지방도 645호선 9.25㎞를 왕복 2차로로 연결하는 사업이다. 사업이 완료되면 국도 1·4호선과 논산 방면이 직결되며 교통량 분산 효과가 클 것으로 예상된다.

김 지사는 다음달 4일 금산에서 민선8기 4년차 시군 방문을 진행할 예정이다.

Chungcheongnam-do Province will concentrate administrative power on attracting defense public institutions and constructing Gyeryong Station transfer center to foster Gyeryong City as a defense hub.

Governor Kim Tae-heum visited Gyeryong City on October 30 as the 13th schedule of his 4th year municipal visits in the 8th popular election to discuss future development plans with residents.

Governor Kim held a press conference and dialogue with residents, then visited the Gyeryong Military Experience Center and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Duma-Noseong Local Road 645 expansion and pavement construction.

The dialogue with residents was held at the grand theater of Gyeryong Culture and Arts Center with Mayor Lee Eung-woo of Gyeryong City and about 600 citizens in attendance.

Governor Kim announced plans to promote △defense institution attraction △Gyeryong Station transfer center construction △public rental knowledge industry center construction △military theme park construction for Gyeryong development.

The province will work to attract defense-related public institutions in line with the second relocation of metropolitan area public institutions to local areas. The plan is to focus on attracting the Defense Rapid Acquisition Technology Research Institute and Korea Defense Research Institute by highlighting that Gyeryong has the three service headquarters and Gyeryong Base, with the Agency for Defense Development and Korea National Defense University located nearby.

The province plans to continuously request the Ministry of National Defense to adopt the construction of a National Military Museum as a national project.

The Gyeryong Station transfer center project will secure parking space at Gyeryong Station, the origin and terminus station, in connection with the ongoing Phase 1 of the Chungcheong Region Metropolitan Railway, and establish an efficient connection system with public transportation from nearby local governments.

It was included in the '4th Metropolitan Area Wide Area Transportation Implementation Plan' in July 2021 and passed the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in April. Construction of the Gyeryong Station-transfer center connecting passage, transfer parking lot, and access bridge will be promoted by 2027.

The public rental knowledge industry center will be built with a total investment of 27.5 billion won on 4,883㎡ in Gyeryong 2nd Industrial Complex with a total floor area of 10,308㎡. It will provide affordable rental space and customized support programs to new startup companies or venture companies.

The military theme park is being promoted to establish Korea's only military culture tourism belt. The Military Experience Center, which opened in March 2024, operates various programs including a military academy and virtual reality (VR) experience center. In the VR experience zone, visitors can enjoy interesting experiences such as virtual combat and army tanks, navy submarines, and air force fighter jets.

The Duma-Noseong Local Road 645 expansion and pavement construction project connects National Roads 1 and 4 and Local Road 645 for 9.25㎞ as a two-way two-lane road from Yudong-ri, Eomsa-myeon, Gyeryong-si to Sangwol-myeon, Nonsan-si. When the project is completed, National Roads 1 and 4 will be directly connected to the Nonsan direction, and a significant traffic distribution effect is expected.

Governor Kim is scheduled to conduct his 4th year municipal visit in the 8th popular election in Geumsan on the 4th of next month.
