충북도가 간소화된 결혼문화 조성을 위해 초혼 신혼부부에게 200만원을 지원하는 '작은 결혼식' 사업이 호응을 얻지 못해 시행 1년 만에 폐지 수순에 들어갔다. 작은 결혼식은 '충청북도 건강한 결혼문화 조성 조례'에 따라 도내 19세 이상 39세 이하 초혼 신혼부부 100쌍에게 200만원씩을 지원하는 사업으로 올해 처음 도입됐다. 도는 사업비 2억원을 확보, 전액 도비로 지원했지만 신청자가 29일 현재 15쌍에 불과한 것으로 나타났다. 시·군별로는 청주·충주시가 각 5쌍, 제천시 3쌍, 진천군 2쌍이며 보은·옥천·영동·괴산·음성·증평·단양군에서는 한 건도 없다.

작은 결혼식이 외면받는 이유는 총 예식비용을 1천200만원 이하로 제한하고 있기 때문이다. 결혼을 앞둔 예비부부들은 "요즘 결혼식을 1천200만원 갖고 치를 수 있다고 생각하느냐"며 "도의 사업 추진 배경은 이해가 되나 현실성이 떨어져 외면하고 있는 것"이라고 말했다. 보은군 관계자는 "200만원을 받기 위해 '싸구려 결혼식'으로 인식되는 1천200만원 이하 결혼식을 치를 청년들이 있을지 의문"이라며 "보은의 경우 혼인 건수도 얼마 안 되지만 아예 문의 전화도 없었다"고 했다. 도는 총 결혼비용이 200만원 미만인 경우 실소요 금액을 지원하고, 결혼장려금을 지원하는 보은군과 옥천군에는 중복 지원도 가능하게 했지만 신청 건수는 한 건도 없다.

◆내년부터 사업 중단…남은 예산 반납

충북도 관계자는 "올해 시범사업으로 작은 결혼식을 추진한 결과 호응이 좋지 않아 내부적으로 내년부터 사업을 접기로 했다"며 "남은 올 예산은 반납할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
