시는 자체 기동반과 용역업체, 읍면동과 협조해 주요 도로와 공공시설 주변을 중심으로 불법 현수막을 집중적으로 제거하고 있다.

특히 전신주, 가로수, 신호등 등 안전에 영향을 줄 수 있는 위치에 설치된 현수막을 우선 정비한다.

상습 위반 업소에는 과태료 부과와 행정조치를 병행할 예정이다.

◆ 합법적 홍보 시설 이용 당부

시 관계자는 "불법 현수막은 단순히 도시미관을 해치는 것을 넘어 교통사고 등 안전사고로 이어질 수 있다"며 "앞으로도 지속적인 단속과 주민 홍보를 통해 깨끗하고 안전한 도시환경을 조성하겠다"고 밝혔다.

또한 "현수막을 게시하려는 개인이나 단체는 충북옥외광고협회 충주시지부에서 위탁 운영 중인 현수막 지정 게시대를 이용해 달라"고 당부했다.

충주시는 공공게시대 등 합법적 홍보 시설 활용 안내와 함께 불법 현수막 근절을 위해 지속적인 정비를 추진한다는 방침이다.
