충북과 충남의 주요 교통 허브를 잇는 초광역형 시외버스 관광교통 순환노선이 27일 운행을 시작한다.

충북도는 26일 청주국제공항과 KTX 오송역에서 출발해 충남 공주종합버스터미널과 부여시외버스터미널을 연결하는 총 88㎞ 구간의 순환노선을 개통한다고 밝혔다.

이 노선은 충북도와 충남도가 공동으로 추진한 문화체육관광부의 초광역형 관광교통 혁신 선도지구 사업의 첫 성과다.

노선은 편도 기준 하루 8회 운행한다. 첫차는 청주공항에서 오전 8시10분, 부여시외버스터미널에서 오전 5시10분에 출발한다.

충북 서울고속과 충남 삼흥고속이 공동으로 운영을 맡는다.

기존에는 청주공항에서 공주·부여까지 평균 3차례 환승해야 했고 4시간 이상 소요됐다. 직통 순환노선 개통으로 환승 없이 2시간 내 이동이 가능해졌다.

정선미 충북도 문화체육관광국장은 "초광역 관광순환노선은 충북과 충남의 경계를 허물고 하나의 거대한 관광생활권으로 연결하는 첫걸음"이라고 말했다.

정 국장은 "앞으로도 초광역 협력사업을 지속 확대하여 도민과 관광객 모두가 체감할 수 있는 관광 발전 시대를 열어가겠다"고 덧붙였다.

Travel within 2 hours without transfer...Tourism transportation innovation in North Chungcheong and South Chungcheong

A super-regional intercity bus tourism transportation circular route connecting major transportation hubs in North Chungcheong and South Chungcheong provinces begins operation on the 27th.

North Chungcheong Province announced on the 26th that it will open a circular route covering a total of 88km, departing from Cheongju International Airport and KTX Osong Station and connecting to Gongju Intercity Bus Terminal and Buyeo Intercity Bus Terminal in South Chungcheong Province.

This route is the first achievement of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's super-regional tourism transportation innovation pilot zone project jointly promoted by North Chungcheong Province and South Chungcheong Province.

The route operates 8 times daily on a one-way basis. The first bus departs from Cheongju Airport at 8:10 AM and from Buyeo Intercity Bus Terminal at 5:10 AM.

Seoul Express of North Chungcheong and Samheung Express of South Chungcheong jointly manage operations.

Previously, traveling from Cheongju Airport to Gongju and Buyeo required an average of 3 transfers and took more than 4 hours. With the opening of the direct circular route, travel is now possible within 2 hours without transfers.

Jeong Seon-mi, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of North Chungcheong Province, said, "The super-regional tourism circular route is the first step in breaking down boundaries between North Chungcheong and South Chungcheong and connecting them into one vast tourism living zone."

Director Jeong added, "We will continue to expand super-regional cooperation projects to open an era of tourism development that both residents and tourists can experience."
