공주시, ‘2026년 디지털배움터 사업’ 대상에 선정됐다.사진/공주시
공주시는 과학기술정보통신부가 주관하는 '2026년 디지털배움터 운영사업'에 선정돼 총사업비 4억 3천만 원을 확보했다고 21일 밝혔다. 국도비는 3억 9천만 원이다.
이번 사업은 어르신, 장애인, 취약계층 등 디지털 소외계층의 정보 활용 능력을 높이기 위해 추진된다.
공주시는 종합사회복지관을 교육장소로 지정한다. 디지털 교육장과 체험존을 함께 운영한다.
교육장에서는 스마트폰과 키오스크 사용법, 온라인 민원 및 금융 서비스 이용법, 인공지능 기초 체험 등을 제공한다. 체험존에서는 다양한 디지털 기기를 직접 다루며 실생활 활용을 지원한다.
사업은 내년 6월까지 시설을 구축한다. 7월부터 본격 운영에 들어간다. 매년 약 2억 원 이상의 운영비가 투입된다. 국비와 도비 누적 지원액은 10억 원 이상이 될 것으로 보인다.
공주시는 고령화가 진행되는 농촌 지역 특성을 고려해 총사업비 일부를 시비로 부담하겠다는 의사를 밝혔다.
최원철 시장은 "모든 세대가 디지털 기술의 혜택을 고르게 누릴 수 있도록 지속 지원하겠다"며 "공주시가 충남의 대표적인 디지털 포용 도시로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

This project is promoted to improve the information utilization capabilities of digitally marginalized groups such as the elderly, disabled, and vulnerable populations.
Gongju City designates the comprehensive social welfare center as the education venue. The city will operate a digital education center and experience zone together.
The education center provides smartphone and kiosk usage methods, online civil service and financial service usage methods, and basic artificial intelligence experience. The experience zone supports practical application by directly handling various digital devices.
The project will construct facilities by June next year. Full operation will begin in July. Operating costs of about 200 million won or more will be invested annually. The cumulative national and provincial support amount is expected to exceed 1 billion won.
Gongju City expressed its intention to bear part of the total project cost as city funds, considering the characteristics of rural areas undergoing aging.
Mayor Choi Won-cheol said, "We will continue to support all generations to enjoy the benefits of digital technology equally," adding "We will do our best to establish Gongju City as Chungnam's representative digital inclusive city."
