신창중학교(교장 백재흠)가 1월 6일 1학년 전 학급을 대상으로 독립기념관 연계 현장체험학습을 실시했다. 이 프로그램은 교실 수업을 넘어 실제 현장에서 역사를 배우고 차년도 수학여행을 준비하는 연계형으로 설계됐다.

◆ 현장 탐방으로 역사 탐구 역량 강화

학생들은 독립기념관에서 전문 해설과 자유 관람을 통해 한국 독립운동의 역사적 흐름을 파악했다. 전시물 관찰과 자료 탐색을 바탕으로 독립운동가의 삶과 정신, 일제강점기 사회상, 민족운동의 가치를 성찰했다. 학생들은 역사적 사실을 스스로 해석하고 질문하는 학습 경험을 확보했다.

◆ 교과 전 영역으로 확대한 통합 학습

신창중은 교육과정을 재구성해 현장체험학습을 교과 학습과 연계했다. 국어에서는 독립운동을 주제로 설명문과 감상문 쓰기를 진행했고, 영어에서는 관련 자료와 영상 표현을 이해하고 정리했다. 수학·사회·과학에서는 독립운동 시기의 통계 자료 분석, 국제적 인구 이동, 통신과 과학기술의 원리를 탐구했다. 도덕·음악·미술·체육·한문까지 연계해 나라사랑, 공동체 책임, 예술적 표현, 협동 활동을 함께 경험하게 했다.

◆ 다문화 특성 반영한 협력 문화 강화

신창중은 다문화 밀집 학교의 특성을 반영해 조별 활동과 단체 이동, 공공시설 이용 과정에서 의사소통 능력과 협력 문화를 강화했다. 사전 안전교육으로 단체 생활 규칙과 안전 수칙을 안내했고, 현장에서 학생들이 질서와 책임을 인식하도록 지도했다.

백재흠 교장은 "이번 체험학습은 역사를 배우는 것을 넘어 서로를 이해하고 함께 살아가는 공동체의 가치를 익히는 시간이었다"고 말했다. 그는 "이 경험이 2학년 수학여행과 학교 생활 전반으로 이어져 학생들의 시민 의식과 협력적 태도를 발전시키는 기초가 되길 기대한다"고 덧붙였다.

신창중은 앞으로도 교육과정과 연계한 체험 중심 학습을 운영하며 학생들이 소통하고 연대하는 학교 문화를 조성할 계획이다.

Shinchang Middle School (Principal Baek Jae-heum) conducted a field experience learning program at the Independence Hall on January 6 for all first-year students. The program was designed as a connected curriculum that extends beyond classroom instruction and prepares students for their second-year school trip.

◆ Enhancing Historical Inquiry Competency Through On-Site Exploration

Students gained understanding of Korean independence movement history through professional lectures and self-directed observation at the Independence Hall. Based on examination of exhibits and research materials, students reflected on the lives and spirit of independence activists, the social conditions during Japanese colonial rule, and the values embedded in nationalist movements. Students secured learning experiences where they independently interpret and question historical facts.

◆ Integrated Learning Expanded Across All Subject Areas

Shinchang Middle School restructured its curriculum to connect the field experience learning with subject instruction. Korean language classes conducted explanation essays and appreciation writing on the theme of the independence movement, while English classes engaged with related materials and video expressions. Mathematics, social studies, and science classes explored statistical analysis of the independence movement period, international population movement, and the principles of communication and scientific technology. The school integrated moral education, music, art, physical education, and classical Chinese studies to provide experiences in patriotism, communal responsibility, artistic expression, and cooperative activities.

◆ Strengthening Cooperative Culture Reflecting Multicultural School Characteristics

Shinchang Middle School reflected the characteristics of its multicultural student population by emphasizing communication skills and cooperative culture during group activities, collective movement, and public facility usage. The school provided pre-visit safety education on group living rules and safety guidelines, and guided students to recognize order and responsibility during the field experience.

Principal Baek Jae-heum stated, "This field experience learning was an opportunity for students to understand one another and internalize the values of community living through experience, beyond simply learning history." He added, "We expect this experience to extend through second-year school trips and overall school life, serving as a foundation for developing students' civic consciousness and cooperative attitudes."

Shinchang Middle School plans to continue implementing experience-focused learning connected to the curriculum while fostering a school culture where students communicate and show solidarity.
