◆ 대전시의회 반대 민원 430건 돌파

대전·충남 행정통합 반대 여론이 확산한다. 29일 대전시의회에 따르면 지난 21일부터 접수된 통합 반대 진정이 일주일 만에 430건을 넘었다. 국회 국민청원 게시판에도 주민투표 실시를 요구하는 청원이 올라왔다.

민원인 박종기(58세)씨는 "대전충남특별시는 대전시 정체성을 약화하고 대전을 사라지게 만든다"고 주장했다. 김영옥(45세)씨도 "주민투표로 시민 뜻을 물어야 한다"고 밝혔다.

◆ 통합 논의 경과

대전·충남 행정통합은 지난해 11월 대전시장, 충남도지사, 양 시·도의회 의장이 공동선언문을 채택하며 시작됐다. 이재명 대통령은 지난 18일 통합을 제안했다. 여당은 '대전·충남 통합 및 충청지역 발전 특별위원회'를 구성해 논의 내고있다.

◆ Daejeon City Council receives over 430 opposition complaints

Opposition to the Daejeon-Chungnam administrative integration spreads. According to the Daejeon City Council on the 28th, opposition petitions submitted since the 21st exceeded 430 within one week. A petition demanding a referendum also appeared on the National Assembly's public petition board.

Complainant Ko stated, "The Daejeon-Chungnam Special City will weaken Daejeon's identity and make Daejeon disappear." Park also said, "The city should ask citizens' opinions through a referendum."

◆ Integration discussion progress

The Daejeon-Chungnam administrative integration began when the Daejeon Mayor, Chungnam Governor, and the speakers of both city and provincial councils adopted a joint declaration in November last year. President Lee Jae-myung proposed the integration on the 18th. The ruling party formed the 'Daejeon-Chungnam Integration and Chungcheong Regional Development Special Committee' to accelerate discussions.
