◆ 괴산군 24일 시계탑사거리 회전교차로 개통

시계탑사거리는 차량 동선이 복잡해 정체가 잦아 개선 필요성이 제기돼 왔다. 괴산군은 사고 위험을 줄이고 교통 흐름을 개선하기 위해 2022년 위험도로 및 병목구간 개선사업 7단계에 시계탑사거리 개선안을 반영했다. 괴산군은 총사업비 52억원을 투입해 2차로형 회전교차로를 조성했다. 교차로 중앙교통섬에는 연풍면 연우회영농조합법인 임석규 대표가 기증한 소나무 '용오름송'을 심어 경관도 정비했다.

◆ 송인헌 군수 "안전한 도로 환경 조성에 최선"

괴산군은 회전교차로 개통으로 교통사고 위험을 낮추고 차량 소통을 개선해 군민과 관광객의 도로 이용 편의가 높아질 것으로 기대하고 있다. 괴산군은 향후 대사삼거리 등 위험 구간과 교통혼잡 구간을 중심으로 회전교차로를 추가 설치할 계획이다. 송인헌 군수는 "괴산 시계탑사거리 회전교차로가 교통혼잡 해소와 사고 예방에 도움이 되길 기대한다"고 밝혔다. 송 군수는 "앞으로도 괴산군 도로를 이용하는 차량과 보행자의 안전을 위해 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
