조길형 충주시장은 "이번 수상은 문화정책을 시민의 일상 속에서 차분히 실천해 온 행정의 결과라고 생각한다"고 밝혔다. 조 시장은 "대한민국 문화도시 사업을 중심으로 추진해 온 문화정책이 지역에 안정적으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 끝까지 잘 마무리하겠다"고 말했다.
