충남 당진시 인구가 사상 처음으로 서산시 인구를 추월했다.

5일 당진시와 서산시에 따르면 지난달 말 기준 당진 인구는 17만2599명으로 서산(17만2564명)보다 35명 많아졌다. 한 달 전까지만 해도 서산이 145명 앞섰지만 상황이 뒤집혔다.

당진시는 기업 투자 유치와 정주 환경 개선을 꾸준히 추진한 결과라고 밝혔다.

서산시는 내년 처음으로 인구 정책 기본계획을 수립해 감소 원인을 분석하고 대응책을 마련할 방침이다.
