◆ 현황과 활용 실적

충남 폐교 총 280개교 발생했다. 이 중 245개교는 매각·교육기관 설립 등으로 활용을 완료했다. 현재 35개교를 관리하고 있으며, 이 중 16개교는 자체 활용 또는 대부로 활용 중이다. 활용 사례로는 구 도곡초등학교(계룡상록어린이집), 농업시설, 문화교육시설 등이 있다. 2025년 추가 폐교 8개교 예정이다.

◆ 활용 촉진 방안

충남교육청은 2025년 상반기 제4기 폐교재산관리추진위원회를 구성해 폐교재산 활용 기본계획을 자문·심의했다. 공모사업으로 2개교를 농업과 문화교육시설로 대부했다. 한기복 재무과장은 "폐교가 지역주민을 위한 공공목적으로 활용되고 평생교육 및 복지 기회 확대로 지역사회 발전에 기여하길 바란다"고 말했다.

This initiative supports efficient utilization of closed school properties in response to increased closures due to declining birthrate and aging population. The case study includes procedures for selling and leasing closed schools, applicable business scope, property valuation methods, current status of 35 closed schools under management, and detailed utilization cases from 30 schools.

◆ Current Status and Utilization Results

Total 280 closed schools generated in Chungnam Province. Among these, 245 schools completed utilization through sales and educational institution establishment. Currently 35 schools remain under management, with 16 schools actively used through self-utilization or lease. Utilization examples include former Dogok Elementary School (now Gyeongryong Evergreen Daycare Center), agricultural facilities, and cultural education facilities. Eight additional school closures are projected for 2025.

◆ Promotion of Utilization

Chungnam Education Office established the 4th Closed School Property Management Promotion Committee in the first half of 2025 to deliberate on basic plans for closed school property utilization. Through public recruitment projects, 2 schools were leased for agricultural and cultural education facilities. Han Ki-bok, Finance Division Chief stated, "We hope closed schools serve public purposes for residents and expand lifelong education and welfare opportunities, contributing to community development."
