◆ 구자현 서울고검장, 대검 차장 임명

법무부는 15일자로 구자현 서울고검장을 대검찰청 차장으로 전보 조치했다. 항소 포기 논란 끝에 사표를 낸 노만석 검찰총장 직무대행 퇴임 당일 이뤄진 원포인트 인사다. 구 차장은 검찰총장 직무를 대행한다.

◆ 청주고·서울대 출신, 검찰 주요 보직 거쳐

청주 출신인 구 차장은 청주고와 서울대 사법학과를 졸업했다. 1997년 39회 사법시험에 합격한 뒤 2000년 공익법무관으로 임관했다. 서울지검 남부지청 검사를 시작으로 대검찰청과 중앙지검, 법무부 등 검찰 내 주요 보직을 거쳤다. 노 전 차장과는 연수원 동기다. 문재인 정부에서 검찰국장과 법무부 대변인, 검찰개혁단장을 맡았다. 윤석열 정부 출범 전 검수완박 문제로 추미애 당시 법무부 장관과 대립할 당시에도 법무부 대변인으로 활동했다. 지난 7월 서울고검장으로 임명됐다.

◆ "어려운 시기, 무거운 책임 성실히 수행"

구 차장은 "어려운 시기에 무거운 책임을 맡게 됐다"며 "맡은 본연의 책무를 성실하게 수행하는 데 최우선 가치를 두겠다"고 밝혔다. 다만 대장동 항소 포기 사태와 관련해서는 언급하지 않았다.

◆ Cheongju High School and Seoul National University Graduate, Held Key Prosecution Posts

Cheongju native Deputy Chief Koo graduated from Cheongju High School and Seoul National University's Department of Judicial Studies. He passed the 39th bar examination in 1997 and was commissioned as a public service legal officer in 2000. Starting as a prosecutor at Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, he held major positions within the prosecution including Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and Ministry of Justice. He is a training institute classmate of former Deputy Chief Noh. During the Moon Jae-in administration, he served as Prosecution Bureau Chief, Ministry of Justice spokesperson, and Prosecution Reform Team head. During the Yoon Suk-yeol government transition period, he also worked as Ministry of Justice spokesperson when confronting then-Minister Choo Mi-ae over prosecution power curtailment issues. He was appointed Seoul High Prosecutors' Office Chief last July.

◆ "Will Faithfully Carry Out Heavy Responsibility in Difficult Times"

Deputy Chief Koo stated, "I have taken on heavy responsibility in difficult times," adding, "I will place top priority on faithfully performing my assigned duties." However, he refrained from commenting on the Daejangdong appeal abandonment incident.
