친목 회원의 코뼈를 부러트린 제천시 A 주민자치위원장이 17개 읍면동 주민자치협의회 회의에 당분간 참석할 수 없게 됐다.

제천시 주민자치협의회는 최근 한수면사무소에서 열린 월례회에서 A 위원장 폭행 사건을 안건으로 채택해 회의 참석 금지 의견을 모았다. 14개 읍면동 위원장이 만장일치로 의결했다.

협의회는 A 위원장이 주민자치위원회와 협의회 이미지를 실추시켰다고 판단했다. A 위원장은 폭행 사건이 마무리될 때까지 협의회 월례회 등에 참석할 수 없다.

A 위원장의 폭행 사건은 지난달 13일 밤 청전동 한 술집에서 발생했다. A 위원장은 회원들과 중앙동 식당에서 모임을 가진 뒤 청전동으로 자리를 옮겨 술을 마시다가 의견 다툼으로 회원 B씨의 코뼈를 부러트렸다.

일각에서는 이 모임을 내년 지방선거를 겨냥해 특정후보를 지원하기 위해 조직된 단체로 보고 있다. A 위원장은 "단순 친목 모임이며 피해자와 합의했다"고 밝혔다.

Chair A's assault incident occurred on the night of the 13th of last month at a bar in Cheongjeon-dong. After having a meeting with members at a restaurant in Jungang-dong, Chair A moved to Cheongjeon-dong, and while drinking, broke member B's nose due to a difference of opinion.

Some view this gathering as an organization formed to support a specific candidate targeting next year's local election. Chair A stated, "It's simply a social gathering and we reached an agreement with the victim."
