◆전교생 참여 보청천 라이딩 행사
옥천 청성초등학교는 11월 7일 전교생이 참여하는 '보청천 가을 자전거 라이딩 행사'를 실시했다. 학교는 매주 운영하는 '어디서나 운동장' 프로그램의 '자전거 타는 날'과 연계해 이번 행사를 진행했다. 학생들은 사전 자전거 점검과 안전 수칙 교육을 받은 뒤 학교를 출발해 보청천 자전거길을 달렸다.
◆도시 전학생 "자전거 배울 기회 생겨 기뻐"
작년 도시에서 전학 온 이채원 학생은 "도시 학교에서는 자전거를 배울 기회가 없었다"며 "청성초에서 친구들과 가을 길을 달리며 배울 수 있어 기쁘다"고 말했다. 이 학생은 "1학기 봄 라이딩 때는 서툴렀지만 매주 자전거 수업 시간마다 연습하고 친구들과 함께 달리니 자신감이 생겼다"고 전했다.
◆지역 자원 활용 체험교육 지속 추진
김기종 교장은 "학생들이 자연 속에서 몸과 마음을 건강하게 단련하고 지역의 소중함을 느끼는 시간이었다"며 "지역 환경과 연계한 체험 중심 교육을 통해 학생들이 배움의 즐거움을 느끼도록 하겠다"고 밝혔다. 청성초등학교는 지역 자연환경과 문화자원을 활용한 체험활동을 통해 학생들의 감수성과 공동체 의식을 키울 계획이다.

Cheongseong Elementary School in Okcheon held a 'Bocheongcheon Fall Bicycle Riding Event' with all students participating on November 7. The school organized this event in connection with 'Bicycle Day,' part of the weekly 'Playground Anywhere' program. Students received preliminary bicycle inspections and safety rule education before departing from school to ride along the Bocheongcheon bicycle path.
◆City Transfer Student Says "Happy to Have Opportunity to Learn Bicycling"
Lee Chae-won, a student who transferred from a city school last year, said, "There was no opportunity to learn bicycling at my city school," adding, "I am happy to learn while riding the fall paths with friends at Cheongseong Elementary." The student shared, "I was a bit awkward during the spring riding in the first semester, but practicing during weekly bicycle class time and riding with friends gave me confidence."
◆Continued Promotion of Experiential Education Using Regional Resources
Principal Kim Ki-jong stated, "This was a meaningful time for students to strengthen their bodies and minds in nature and feel the preciousness of the region," adding, "We will continue to provide experience-centered education linked to the regional environment so students can feel the joy of learning." Cheongseong Elementary School plans to develop students' sensitivity and community consciousness through various experiential activities utilizing regional natural environment and cultural resources.
