◆ 캄보디아 납치·구금 사태 직후 전국 신고 급감
지난달 전국 피싱사기 112 신고 건수는 3만7,040건으로 전월(5만5,803건) 대비 33.6% 감소했다. 경기남부 40.2%, 경기북부 40.4% 줄었고, 3분의 1 급감은 매우 이례적이다. 피싱사기는 보이스피싱, 스미싱, 로맨스 스캠 등이며, 월별 증감 폭이 변동성이 작은 범죄임에도 이례적 평가다.​

◆ 일시적 소강일 가능성, 전문가 “지속 근절 대책 필요”
전문가들은 캄보디아 범죄 조직의 와해 및 국내외 공조 영향으로 분석한다. 다만, 감시망 회피 목적 은신 후 재범 소지가 높아 잠깐의 반짝효과로 끝날 수 있으므로 국가 차원의 근본적 단속 강화, 국제공조 등 지속적 대응 필요성이 제기된다. 경찰은 “캄보디아 범죄조직 동향, 국내 피해액 변화 모니터링 강화”한다는 입장이다.​

◆ 2025년 연간 신고·피해액 역대 최고
벌써 10월까지 신고 47만2,799건, 지난해 연간 신고(37만4,815건) 넘었다. 1~7월 피해액 약 8,000억 원으로 2배 늘었다. 2025년 말 1조 원 피해 우려, “해외 발신 피싱차단 시스템” 등 제도적 대책 마련 시급하다.​

◆ Sharp Decline Immediately After Cambodia Abduction Case
In October, police received 37,040 reports of phishing scams nationwide—a 33.6% drop from 55,803 in September. Southern Gyeonggi and Northern Gyeonggi registered 40.2% and 40.4% declines each. This sharp drop is “highly unusual” given phishing scams like voice, smishing, and romance frauds usually show little month-to-month fluctuation.​

◆ Experts: Only a Temporary Lull, Robust Responses Required
Experts credit the break-up of Cambodian syndicates and tighter police cooperation, but caution the effect could be short-lived as gangs hide and regroup. “Sustained crackdowns and international coordination are critical,” police said, adding they’re closely monitoring fraud ring trends and domestic damages.​

◆ 2025’s Scam Reports and Losses Already Hit All-time High
By October, total fraud reports hit 472,799, surpassing last year’s total of 374,815. January–July monetary losses neared KW 800 billion, double the prior year. Losses over KRW 1 trillion are expected by year-end; experts urge enhanced anti-phishing tech and global policing pacts.​
