◆ 국내 첫 ‘AI 자율주행 콜버스’ 청주~조치원 운행 시작
청주 오송역과 조치원역을 잇는 25.7km 구간에 ‘AI 자율주행 콜버스’가 전국에서 처음으로 시범 운행에 들어갔다.​

◆ 호출기반 운행, AI가 실시간 경로 계산
승객이 앱에 출발지와 목적지를 입력하면 AI가 최적 경로를 설정해 버스를 배차한다. 현대 전기 미니버스 3대가 투입돼 정해진 노선 없이 실시간 운행된다. 운행 시간은 평일 정오~오후 8시이며, 연말까지 무료다.​

◆ 미래형 교통 실험, 상용화 준비 본격화
자율주행 레벨3 기술 적용으로 안전관리자가 동승하고, 민감 구간에서는 수동 전환된다. 이번 실증을 통해 2026년 유료화와 노선·차량 확장 등 상용화가 추진된다. 국토교통부와 충북도·청주시, 테크노파크 주관으로 미래 대중교통 고도화를 본격 추진한다.​

◆ Korea’s First ‘AI Call Bus’ Pilot Launches Between Cheongju and Jochiwon
An AI-powered self-driving “Call Bus” is now in pilot operation for the first time in Korea, running from Osong Station in Cheongju to Jochiwon Station over a 25.7km route.​

◆ User-Friendly, AI-Driven Dynamic Routing
Passengers enter both start and end points in an app; AI then calculates the fastest route and dispatches an electric Hyundai minibus in real time. Three vehicles are operating, with no fixed route, covering peak midday-to-evening hours on weekdays. All rides are free until year-end.​

◆ Next-Generation Urban Mobility, Commercialization in Progress
Level-3 technology includes a safety driver for emergencies, with manual swaps near schools or construction zones for safety assurance. This trial will guide route and vehicle expansion for 2026 commercialization. The Ministry of Land, Chungbuk Province and Cheongju City—with Techno Park—are leading the project to upgrade Korea’s future public transport options.
