◆사우디 살람 수의그룹과 연구협력 MOU
충북경제자유구역청은 경제자유구역 입주기업 코쿤이 사우디아라비아 살람 수의 그룹(Salam Veterinary Group·SVG)과 바이오뱅크 구축 및 수의학 분야 연구협력 MOU를 체결했다고 28일 밝혔다. SVG는 사우디아라비아 비전 2030의 핵심 목표인 축산·동물 보건혁신을 주도하는 기관으로, 세계 최대 규모의 동물병원을 중심으로 다양한 동물군에 대한 진료·연구·감시 네트워크와 번식·육종 개량 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
◆바이오뱅크 구축·AI 감염병 예측 시스템 추진
2015년 설립된 코쿤은 국내 유일의 바이오뱅킹 전문기업으로, 충북경제자유구역에서 생명연구자원을 발굴하고 관련 기술을 개발하고 있다. 양측은 이번 협약으로 살람 수의그룹 바이오뱅크 설립·운영, AI·GIS 기반 감염병 예측 및 모니터링 시스템 구축, 가축생산성 및 질병 저항성 관련 유전적 바이오마커 발굴 등 협력사업을 단계적으로 추진한다. 우선 연내 세부 협력 로드맵을 마련하고 SVG 산하 병원·농장·실험실에서 확보되는 시료·데이터를 통합관리하는 ICT기반 바이오뱅크 구축사업에 들어갈 계획이다.
◆충북경자청 "K-바이오 국제 경쟁력 강화 지원"
충북경자청은 경제자유구역 입주기업 기술 사업화와 글로벌 네트워크 구축 지원을 한층 강화할 계획이다. 최복수 충북경자청장은 "코쿤과 사우디아라비아 기업의 협력은 충북경제자유구역이 기업의 성장단계별 지원을 통해 실제 해외 성과로 이어지게 한 모범 사례"라며 "오송첨단의료복합단지를 중심으로 연구기업의 글로벌 진출과 K-바이오의 국제 경쟁력 강화를 지속적으로 지원하겠다"고 말했다.

◆Research Cooperation MOU with Saudi Salam Veterinary Group
The Chungbuk Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 28th that Cocoon, a company located in the free economic zone, signed an MOU for biobank construction and veterinary research cooperation with Saudi Arabia's Salam Veterinary Group (SVG). SVG is an organization leading livestock and animal health innovation, a core goal of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, operating treatment, research, and surveillance networks for various animal groups and breeding improvement programs centered on the world's largest animal hospital.
◆Biobank Construction and AI Infectious Disease Prediction System Promotion
Cocoon, established in 2015, is the only biobanking specialized company in Korea, discovering life research resources and developing related technologies in the Chungbuk Free Economic Zone. Through this agreement, both parties will gradually pursue cooperative projects including establishment and operation of Salam Veterinary Group Biobank, construction of AI and GIS-based infectious disease prediction and monitoring systems, and discovery of genetic biomarkers related to livestock productivity and disease resistance. They plan to prepare a detailed cooperation roadmap within this year and begin an ICT-based biobank construction project that integrates and manages samples and data secured from hospitals, farms, and laboratories under SVG.
◆Chungbuk FEZ Authority "Support for Strengthening K-Bio International Competitiveness"
The Chungbuk FEZ Authority plans to further strengthen support for technology commercialization and global network building of companies in the free economic zone. Choi Bok-su, head of the Chungbuk FEZ Authority, said, "The cooperation between Cocoon and the Saudi Arabian company is an exemplary case where the Chungbuk Free Economic Zone led to actual overseas results through support for each stage of corporate growth," adding, "We will continue to support the global expansion of research companies and strengthening the international competitiveness of K-Bio centered on the Osong High-Tech Medical Complex."
