논산시는 21일 농촌진흥청이 주관한 '2025년 최고품질 농산물 생산단지 경진대회'에서 논산수박연구회영농조합법인이 대상(국무총리상)을 수상했다고 밝혔다. 논산수박연구회영농조합법인 대표는 김종일이다.

농촌진흥청은 전국 농산물 생산단지를 대상으로 1차 서류심사와 2차 발표심사를 진행했다. 논산수박연구회는 국내 육성 품종 100% 재배, 농업인 중심 농산물산지유통센터 운영, 공동출하 및 차별정산제 도입 등을 평가받았다.

논산수박연구회영농조합법인은 2014년 설립했다. 현재 36농가가 56.7ha에서 수박을 생산한다. 최근 3년간 매출은 259억 원을 기록했다. 법인은 지역 학교급식과 취약계층에 수박을 무상 지원한다.

논산시는 생산비용 절감, 우수 농산물 생산, 산업화된 농업 기반 구축, 수출을 통한 세계화, 전문 인재 육성 정책을 추진했다. 논산시는 생산물의 지역 내 우선 소비, 유통 다변화를 통한 시장 확대, 해외 시장 개척 등 '농업수익 3원칙'을 기반으로 지역 농업 발전과 농업인 소득 증대를 실현하고 있다.

김종일 대표이사는 "이번 수상은 농업인 스스로 품질 경쟁력을 높여 전국 최고 수박을 생산한 결과"라며 "앞으로도 논산시와 협력해 소비자 기호에 맞는 품종 재배와 유통혁신으로 논산 수박의 명성을 이어가겠다"고 말했다.

백성현 논산시장은 "논산은 딸기에 이어 수박에서도 전국 최고 수준의 품질을 증명했다"며 "논산의 농업이 단일 품목을 넘어 모든 분야에서 다양성과 경쟁력을 인정받은 결과"라고 말했다. 백 시장은 "앞으로도 논산 농업의 가치를 높이고 안정적인 농가 소득 기반을 다져, 농업이 지역 발전의 원동력이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.

농촌진흥청은 12월 4일 '2025년 농업기술 보급사업 종합평가회'에서 시상식을 개최한다.

Nonsan Watermelon Research Association received evaluation for 100% cultivation of domestically developed varieties, operation of farmer-centered agricultural product distribution centers, and introduction of joint shipping and differential settlement systems.

Nonsan Watermelon Research Association Agricultural Corporation was established in 2014. Currently, 36 farms produce watermelons on 56.7 hectares. Sales over the past 3 years recorded 25.9 billion won. The corporation provides free watermelons to local school meals and vulnerable groups.

Nonsan City promoted policies for production cost reduction, excellent agricultural product production, industrialized agricultural infrastructure establishment, globalization through exports, and professional talent cultivation. Nonsan City realizes regional agricultural development and farmer income increase based on the 'three principles of agricultural profit': priority consumption of products within the region, market expansion through distribution diversification, and overseas market development.

Nonsan City Mayor Baek Seong-hyeon said, "Nonsan has proven the highest quality level nationwide in watermelons following strawberries," and "This is the result of Nonsan's agriculture being recognized for diversity and competitiveness in all areas beyond a single item." Mayor Baek added, "We will continue to do our best to increase the value of Nonsan agriculture and establish a stable farm income base so that agriculture can become the driving force for regional development."

The Rural Development Administration will hold the award ceremony at the '2025 Agricultural Technology Extension Project Comprehensive Evaluation Meeting' on December 4.
