청주시는 농림축산식품부가 주관하는 '2025년 농촌공간정비사업' 공모에 청원구 북이면 금대지구가 최종 선정됐다고 13일 밝혔다.
청주시 세 번째 선정
이 사업은 농촌 공간 재구조화를 위해 농촌 유해 환경시설을 정비하고, 정비한 공간에 생활 사회간접자본(SOC) 시설을 조성해 농촌 정주 환경을 개선하는 사업이다. 청주시가 이 사업 공모에 선정된 것은 2023년 북이면 장양지구, 2024년 옥산면 소로지구에 이어 이번이 세 번째다.
국·도비 80억 원 포함
시는 이번 공모 선정으로 국·도비 80억 원을 포함해, 총사업비 123억 원을 확보했다.
2만3천368㎡ 축사 철거
2029년까지 금대2리 일원 돼지 축사 1개소, 소 축사 2개소 및 폐축사 등 총 2만3천368㎡를 철거하고 복합문화체육시설, 마을공원 등 주민 편의시설을 조성해 그동안 고통받은 주민의 삶의 질과 복지 향상을 도모할 계획이다.
다년간 악취 민원 지속
해당 지역은 주거지와 인접한 축사의 분뇨 등 악취로 주민들의 고통이 다년간 지속됐던 곳이다. 인접 지자체인 증평군민 또한 악취로 민원이 끊이지 않아 갈등을 빚었던 만큼, 사업이 완료되면 정주 여건이 크게 개선돼 지방소멸 위기에 대응될 것으로 기대된다.
"도농복합 특별시 실현"
시 관계자는 "농촌과 도시가 모두 행복한 도농복합 특별시 청주를 실현하기 위해 사업 추진에 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

This is Cheongju City's third selection in this project contest, following Jangyang District in Buk-i-myeon in 2023 and Soro District in Oksan-myeon in 2024.
Including 8 Billion Won in National and Provincial Funds
The city secured a total project cost of 12.3 billion won, including 8 billion won in national and provincial funds, through this contest selection.
Demolition of 23,368㎡ of Livestock Facilities
By 2029, the city plans to demolish a total of 23,368㎡ including one pig farm, two cattle farms, and abandoned livestock facilities in the Geumdae 2-ri area, and create resident convenience facilities such as a complex culture and sports facility and village park to improve the quality of life and welfare of residents who have suffered.
Years of Odor Complaints Continued
This area is where residents' suffering from odors such as manure from livestock facilities adjacent to residential areas continued for many years. As residents of neighboring local government Jeungpyeong County also experienced conflict due to endless complaints about odors, once the project is completed, residential conditions are expected to be greatly improved, responding to the crisis of local extinction.
"Realize Urban-Rural Complex Special City"
A city official said, "We will do our best to promote the project to realize Cheongju as a special urban-rural complex city where both rural areas and cities are happy."
