2025. 쌀 맛나는 학교 사업은 우리 전통 먹거리인 쌀에 대한 관심도를 제고하고, 쌀 소비를 촉진해 미래세대에게 쌀에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 높이도록 하기 위한 공모사업으로 올해 5월 초 재배화분 만들기를 시작으로 11월 벼 와 콩을 수확하고 나누며 일년살이 벼농사를 체험할 수 있는 프로그램으로 구성·운영되었다.
동화초는‘꼬마농부들의 에코-팜(ECO-FARM) 프로젝트로 지구사랑 실천하기’를 주제로 학교의 특색사업인 ‘자연과 함께 더불어 사는 삶’을 목표로 하는 환경·생태교육과 연계하여 농정원에서 제공한 교재 및 재배일지, 영상자료, 키트를 활용하여 쌀의 가치와 소중함을 배우고, 마을 선생님과 함께하는 모내기, 농사 도구 및 기계체험하기, 허수아비 만들기, 벼수확하기, 벼가공 산업시설 견학하기, 토종벼 채취하기 등의 농사 체험과 함께 (사)식생활교육충북네트워크와 연계하여 쌀 중심 식생활교육, 텃밭 작물과 쌀을 활용한 팜파티하기, 쌀로 만든 음식을 지역 노인정에 나눔하기, 알뜰시장 및 수익금 지역에 기부하기 등을 활동으로 쌀의 소중함, 올바른 쌀중심 식습관, 나눔을 통해 더해지는 행복 등을 배우며 쌀로...지구사랑을 실천하였다.

"쌀 한 톨의 소중함 느꼈어요"
4학년 강다은 학생은 "쌀 맛나는 학교 활동을 하면서 쌀 한 톨의 소중함을 느꼈고, 따뜻한 밥상을 준비해주시는 엄마, 급식실 선생님들...주변에 고마운 분들이 너무 많다는 걸 배웠어요"라며 "올해는 농사 초보였지만 내년엔 좀 더 잘 할 수 있겠죠"라고 웃으며 대견하게 소감을 전했다.
조은성 교장은 "앞으로 벼농사나 주말농장, 팜파티와 같은 학교-지역연계 환경·생태교육과정 운영으로 도시형 농촌소규모학교로서 모델링을 구축해가며, 더 내실있는 자타공인 행복교육 운영으로 교육공동체가 함께 지속가능한 미래를 창출하는 지역교육생태계를 조성하기 위해 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Cheongju Donghwa Elementary School (Principal Jo Eun-seong) announced on the 13th that it won the grand prize among about 80 operating schools nationwide following last year's grand prize in the 2025 Delicious Rice School Project excellence case selection review conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and hosted by the Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Food Education and Culture Information Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Agricultural Affairs Institute).
The 2025 Delicious Rice School Project is a public offering project to raise awareness of rice, a traditional Korean food, promote rice consumption, and raise positive perceptions of rice among future generations. It was organized and operated as a program where students can experience annual rice farming by starting to make cultivation pots in early May this year, harvesting and sharing rice and beans in November.
'Little Farmers' Eco-Farm Project'… Linked to environmental and ecological education
Donghwa Elementary School learned the value and preciousness of rice by utilizing textbooks, cultivation logs, video materials, and kits provided by the Agricultural Affairs Institute in connection with environmental and ecological education aimed at 'living in harmony with nature', which is the school's special project, under the theme of 'Practicing love for the earth through the ECO-FARM project of little farmers'.
Through farming experiences such as planting rice seedlings with village teachers, experiencing farming tools and machinery, making scarecrows, harvesting rice, visiting rice processing industrial facilities, and collecting native rice, and in connection with the Chungbuk Network for Dietary Life Education, students learned the preciousness of rice, proper rice-centered eating habits, and happiness that is added through sharing through activities such as rice-centered dietary life education, having a farm party using garden crops and rice, sharing food made with rice with local senior citizen centers, and donating the proceeds from the thrift market to the local community, and practiced love for the earth with rice.

Fourth-grader Kang Da-eun said, "Through the Delicious Rice School activities, I felt the preciousness of a single grain of rice, and learned that there are so many people to be grateful for around me, such as my mom who prepares a warm meal and the cafeteria teachers," and "I was a beginner at farming this year, but I think I can do better next year," she said with a smile.
Principal Jo Eun-seong said, "In the future, we will build a model as an urban-rural small school by operating a school-community linked environmental and ecological education curriculum such as rice farming, weekend farms, and farm parties, and strive to create a local education ecosystem where the education community creates a sustainable future together through more substantial and universally recognized happy education."
