홍성군이 국내 유일 프리미엄 딸기 품종 '골드베리'의 안정적 재배와 품질 향상을 위해 84쪽 분량의 책자형 재배가이드와 리플릿을 제작해 농가에 보급했다고 13일 밝혔다.
재배가이드는 재배 작형, 생육 및 과실 특성, 병해충 관리, 양액 관리, 수확 요령 등 농업 현장에서 바로 적용할 수 있는 내용을 담았다. 농가들은 '실전형 지침서'라는 평가를 내렸다.
농업기술센터 관계자는 "농가들이 손쉽게 따라 할 수 있도록 실제 재배 경험을 바탕으로 정리했다"며 "품종 특성과 관리 요령을 정확히 이해하면 수확량과 품질을 동시에 높일 수 있다"고 말했다.
가이드에는 병해충 관리 요령, 겨울철 당도 저하를 막는 양액 EC 관리법, 붕소 과잉 문제 예방책 등이 체계적으로 정리됐다. 제1화방 과실 5~6개 유지, 분홍빛이 돌 때 수확, 대묘 양성 및 엽면적 최대 확보 등 세부 팁도 수록했다.
골드베리 재배 농업인은 "교육으로만 들었던 재배 요령을 책자로 받아보니 이해가 쉽다"며 "딸기 재배에 필요한 정보가 많아 큰 도움이 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
골드베리는 농업회사법인 헤테로에서 개발한 딸기 품종이다. 평균당도 12.5brix로 타 품종 대비 고당도이며 단단하고 당산비가 좋아 식감이 뛰어나다. 공동과 발생이 적고 수정이 안정적이어서 상품과 비율이 높다. 착색기간에 따라 사과맛, 망고맛이 나며 과육이 노란색을 띤다.
경도와 당도가 동시에 높아 유통기한이 기존 신품종보다 2배 길다. 국내 딸기 수출업체와 해외 스마트팜 전문기업에서 주목받고 있다.
올해 초 국내 시장에서 300g에 24,000원에 판매됐다. 소비자들은 "올해 맛본 딸기 중 최고"라는 평가를 내렸다. 미국, 홍콩, 싱가포르 등에서 최고급 과일로 인정받았으며 중동 시장 수출도 확대될 전망이다.
홍성군은 재배가이드 보급을 통해 농가의 기술 수준을 높이고 골드베리 재배 면적을 확대해 전국적 보급과 세계시장 진출을 가속화할 계획이다.
홍성군농업기술센터 이승복 소장은 "골드베리는 홍성군에서만 재배되는 유일한 프리미엄 딸기이자 지역 농가의 소득 안정과 K-딸기 브랜드화를 이끌 핵심 품종"이라며 "AI 스마트팜과 재배 자동화 기술을 접목해 세계 시장에서도 통하는 고품질 딸기를 생산하여 홍성을 K-딸기의 중심지로 만들겠다"고 밝혔다.
홍성군은 신품종 딸기 농가를 확대하고 AI 스마트팜과 재배 자동화 기술을 접목해 프리미엄 신품종 딸기 수출재배단지 조성에 박차를 가할 방침이다.

An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "We organized it carefully based on actual cultivation experience so that farmers can easily follow it," and "If you accurately understand the variety characteristics and management tips, you can increase both yield and quality."
The guide systematically organizes pest management tips, nutrient solution EC management methods to prevent sugar content decline in winter, and measures to prevent boron excess problems. It also includes detailed tips such as maintaining 5-6 fruits in the first flower cluster, harvesting when pink color appears, raising large seedlings, and securing maximum leaf area.
A farmer growing Goldberry said, "It's much easier to understand now that I've received the cultivation tips I only heard in education as a booklet," and "There's a lot of information necessary for strawberry cultivation, so it will be a great help."
Goldberry is a strawberry variety developed by agricultural corporation Hetero. It has a high sugar content of 12.5 brix on average compared to other varieties, and is firm with a good sugar-acid ratio, resulting in excellent texture. It has few hollow fruits and stable fertilization, resulting in a high commercial fruit ratio. Depending on the coloring period, it has apple and mango flavors with abundant juice and taste, and is characterized by yellow flesh.
It has both high hardness and high sugar content, with a shelf life twice as long as existing new varieties. It receives great attention not only from domestic strawberry export companies but also from overseas smart farm specialized companies.
In early this year, it received praise from consumers as "the best strawberry I tasted this year" despite the high price of 24,000 won for 300g in the domestic market. It is recognized as a premium fruit sold in the US, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and exports are expected to expand to the Middle East market.
Hongseong County plans to raise the technical level of farms through the distribution of this cultivation guide and leaflet, expand the Goldberry cultivation area, and accelerate nationwide distribution and entry into the world market.
Lee Seung-bok, director of the Hongseong County Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Goldberry is the only premium strawberry cultivated only in Hongseong County and a core variety that will lead the income stabilization of local farms and K-strawberry branding," and "We will produce high-quality strawberries that work in the world market by integrating AI smart farms and cultivation automation technology, making Hongseong the center of K-strawberries."
