◆ 주민들, 충북도청서 기자회견 개최

충북 청주시 가덕면발전대책위원회는 12일 충북도청에서 기자회견을 열었다. 위원회는 하이트진로가 지난 30년간 막대한 양의 지하수를 취수해 물장사를 해왔다고 주장했다. 위원회는 지하수 취수로 인해 일대 개천이 마르고 농업용수 사용을 위해 더 깊이 관정을 파게 됐다고 밝혔다.

◆ 주민 안전 위협과 도로 개설 약속 불이행 비난

위원회는 내암리의 좁은 마을길에 대형 화물차가 쉴 새 없이 오가며 주민 안전을 위협한다고 지적했다. 위원회는 하이트진로가 안전이 보장되는 도로 개설을 조건으로 공장 허가를 받았으나 이를 이행하지 않고 있다고 비난했다. 위원회는 하이트진로가 과거 허가된 취수량을 초과해 행정조치를 받은 전례가 있다고 언급했다.

◆ 충북도, 환경부에 환경영향조사서 분석 의뢰

위원회는 충북도에 하이트진로 공장 허가 취소를 요구했다. 위원회는 금강유역환경청에 공장 측 취수로 인한 마을 피해 사례 정밀 조사를 촉구했다. 하이트진로 청주공장은 오는 4월 만료 예정인 샘물개발허가 연장 신청을 충북도에 낸 상태다. 충북도는 공장 측이 자체 작성한 환경영향조사서를 환경청에 분석 의뢰했다. 충북도는 검토 결과를 토대로 허가 연장 여부를 결정할 방침이다.

◆ Residents Hold Press Conference at Provincial Office

The Gadeok-myeon Development Committee held a press conference at the North Chungcheong Provincial Office on January 12. The committee claimed Hite Jinro extracted massive amounts of groundwater for commercial purposes over the past 30 years. The committee stated groundwater extraction dried up local streams and forced farmers to dig deeper wells for agricultural water.

◆ Residents Criticize Safety Threats and Unfulfilled Road Construction Promise

The committee pointed out large trucks constantly travel through narrow village roads in Naeam-ri, threatening resident safety. The committee criticized Hite Jinro for failing to construct a safe road despite receiving factory approval on that condition. The committee noted Hite Jinro previously received administrative penalties for exceeding permitted water extraction limits.

◆ Provincial Government Requests Environmental Impact Analysis

The committee demanded North Chungcheong Province cancel the Hite Jinro factory permit. The committee urged the Geum River Basin Environmental Office to conduct a detailed investigation into village damage caused by factory water extraction. Hite Jinro Cheongju Factory submitted a permit extension application to North Chungcheong Province for its spring water development permit expiring in April. The provincial government requested the Environmental Office to analyze the environmental impact assessment prepared by the factory. The provincial government plans to decide on permit extension based on the review results.
