◆ 정규수업에서 전국대회 우승까지

세종 연양초등학교(교장 정원식)가 2025학년도 1학기부터 5·6학년 전체 학급에서 운영한 브리지(Contract Bridge) 정규수업 성과가 전국대회 우승으로 이어졌다.

연양초 6학년 김규응-조우진 팀은 1월 4일 서울 강남구 한국브리지협회 회관에서 열린 '제1회 한국브리지협회장배 유소년 브리지 전국대회'에서 1위를 차지했다. 같은 학교 5학년 박수아-김정화 팀도 3위에 올랐다.

이번 대회는 만 24세 이하 유소년·청소년을 대상으로 페어 토너먼트(Match Point) 방식으로 진행됐다. 참가자들은 제한 시간 안에서 집중력과 사고력, 파트너와의 협력 능력을 겨뤘다.

◆ 사고력·협력 키우는 두뇌스포츠

브리지는 전략과 협력을 기반으로 한 카드형 두뇌스포츠다. 집중력과 논리적 사고력, 감정 조절, 의사소통 능력을 종합적으로 키울 수 있다.

연양초는 브리지 수업을 통해 정답을 맞히는 학습이 아닌, 기다리고 판단하며 함께 해결하는 학습 경험을 제공했다. 수업 현장에서는 학생들의 몰입도 향상과 또래 관계 개선 등 긍정적 변화가 나타났다.

대회 현장에서는 고등학생 봉사 스텝이 함께 참여했으며, '레드 & 골드 드레스 코드'와 '2026 새해 목표·브리지 목표 카드' 이벤트도 진행됐다.

◆ "교육·스포츠·문화 결합 모델"

정원식 교장은 "연양초의 브리지 수업은 교육·스포츠·문화가 자연스럽게 결합된 세종형 교육 사례"라며 "학교 수업에서 출발해 지역사회와 전국 무대로 확장되는 경험을 통해 학생들이 배움의 가치를 실제 삶 속에서 체감하고 있다"고 밝혔다.

Yeonyang Elementary School Bridge Classes Lead to National Competition Success

Grades 5-6 Regular Classes Produce National Champions Kim Gyu-eung and Jo Woo-jin

◆ From Regular Classes to National Championship

Sejong's Yeonyang Elementary School (Principal Jeong Won-sik) saw its regular Bridge (Contract Bridge) classes for all 5th and 6th grade students, launched in the first semester of 2025, culminate in a national championship victory.

The 6th grade team of Kim Gyu-eung and Jo Woo-jin from Yeonyang Elementary School took first place at the '1st Korea Bridge Association President's Cup Youth Bridge National Competition' held on January 4 at the Korea Bridge Association building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The school's 5th grade team of Park Su-ah and Kim Jeong-hwa also placed third.

The competition was conducted in a Pair Tournament (Match Point) format for youth and adolescents aged 24 and under. Participants competed in concentration, thinking skills, and cooperative abilities with partners within a time limit.

◆ Brain Sport Developing Thinking and Cooperation

Bridge is a card-based brain sport built on strategy and cooperation. It comprehensively develops concentration, logical thinking, emotional control, and communication skills.

Yeonyang Elementary School provided learning experiences through Bridge classes that focused not on finding correct answers, but on waiting, judging, and solving problems together. Positive changes appeared in classrooms, including improved student engagement and better peer relationships.

At the competition site, high school volunteer staff participated together, and events including a 'Red & Gold Dress Code' and '2026 New Year Goals·Bridge Goals Card' were held.

◆ "Education-Sports-Culture Integration Model"

Principal Jeong Won-sik stated, "Yeonyang Elementary School's Bridge classes are a Sejong-style educational case where education, sports, and culture naturally combine," adding, "Through experiences that expand from school classes to the local community and national stage, students are experiencing the value of learning in their actual lives."
