◆ 현재 공정률 95% 달성

충북 청남대에 추진 중인 모노레일이 3월 개통한다. 충북도가 5일 이 같은 내용을 밝혔다.

청남대 모노레일은 총사업비 54억3000만원을 투입한다. 모노레일은 청주시 상당구 문의면 청남대 내 옛 정비창고에서 제1전망대까지 330m 구간에 설치한다. 모노레일은 20인승 2량 단선 왕복형으로 조성한다. 승강장 2개소도 함께 설치한다.

충북도는 관계 기관 인허가 절차를 마치고 지난해 7월 공사에 착공했다. 토목 기초, 지주·레일 설치, 승하차장 조성 공사까지 현재 공정률은 95%다.

◆ 동절기 공사 일시 중단

충북도는 작업자 안전과 견실한 시공을 위해 12월 공사를 일시 중단한다. 잔여 주요 공정이 지상 57m 높이에서 진행된다. 겨울철 미끄러짐과 추락 위험이 높다. 시설물 하자 발생 우려도 있다.

충북도는 평균기온이 영상권으로 오르는 2월 말~3월 초 공사를 재개한다. 이후 전차선 설치, 바닥 정비, 안내 시설 설치를 마무리한다.

◆ 3월 말 정식 개통 예정

충북도는 40시간 시험운행을 실시한다. 한국교통안전공단 준공 검사와 청주시 인허가를 거쳐 3월 말 정식 개통한다.

모노레일이 개통되면 고령자·임산부·장애인·어린이 등 교통약자가 제1전망대에 쉽게 접근할 수 있다. 제1전망대는 청남대 제1경으로 불린다. 다만 등산코스를 이용하거나 산악구간 645개 계단을 올라야 해 민원이 이어졌다.

청남대관리사업소 관계자는 "꽃피는 봄 모노레일을 타고 청남대와 대청호 전경을 관람할 수 있도록 마무리 공사에 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

◆ Current Progress Rate Reaches 95%

The monorail under construction at Cheongnamdae in Chungbuk opens in March. Chungbuk Province announced this on January 5.

The Cheongnamdae monorail project costs a total of 5.43 billion won. The monorail covers a 330m section from the former maintenance warehouse to the First Observatory in Cheongnamdae, Munui-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si. The monorail operates as a 20-passenger, 2-car, single-track round-trip system. Two stations will also be installed.

Chungbuk Province began construction in July last year after completing permit procedures with related agencies. The current progress rate is 95%, including civil engineering foundations, pillar and rail installation, and station construction.

◆ Winter Construction Temporarily Suspended

Chungbuk Province temporarily suspended construction in January and February for worker safety and solid construction. The remaining major work takes place at 5-7m above ground. The risk of slipping and falling is high in winter. Concerns about facility defects also exist.

Chungbuk Province will resume construction in late February to early March when average temperatures rise above freezing. The province will complete trolley wire installation, floor maintenance, and guidance facility installation.

◆ Official Opening Scheduled for Late March

Chungbuk Province will conduct 40 hours of test operations. The monorail will officially open in late March after completion inspection by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and permits from Cheongju City.

When the monorail opens, transportation-disadvantaged groups including the elderly, pregnant women, disabled persons, and children can easily access the First Observatory. The First Observatory is called the best scenic spot in Cheongnamdae. However, visitors had to use hiking courses or climb 645 stairs in the mountain section, leading to continuous complaints.

A Cheongnamdae Management Office official said, "We will do our best to complete construction so visitors can ride the monorail and view Cheongnamdae and Daecheongho Lake in the blooming spring."
