◆ 서산해미읍성축제 충남 1품 축제 평가 3위 선정
서산해미읍성축제가 명실상부한 충남의 대표 역사·문화 축제로서 그 위상을 다시 한번 입증했다. 서산시는 충청남도가 주관하는 '1시군 1품 축제 평가'에서 서산해미읍성축제가 3위로 선정돼 도비 2억 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다. 해당 평가는 시군을 대표하는 명품축제를 육성하고 지역축제의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위해 2023년부터 시행되고 있다. 충남도는 도내 15개 시군 대표 축제를 대상으로 전년도 운영 성과와 개선 계획, 탄소중립 실천 노력, 성장 가능성 등을 종합 평가했다.
◆ 제22회 축제 관광객 20만 9천여 명 방문
서산해미읍성축제는 조선시대 역사와 전통을 현대적으로 재해석해 차별화된 콘텐츠를 선보였다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 지역 주민이 주도적으로 참여하는 운영 방식도 호평을 받았다. 지난 9월 26일부터 28일까지 해미읍성 일원에서 열린 제22회 서산해미읍성축제는 관광객 20만 9천여 명이 다녀가며 성공적으로 마무리됐다. '고성방가(古城放佳) 시즌3-과거·현재·미래의 지혜를 만나다'를 주제로 총 38개 프로그램이 진행됐다. 조선시대 전통을 재현한 전통 혼례 체험, 태종대왕행렬 등과 함께 블랙이글스 에어쇼, 서산의 인물과 역사를 드로잉 가상 영상으로 구현한 퍼포먼스 등이 관광객들의 눈길을 사로잡았다. 지역 주민들이 직접 축제에 참여한 '이고지고 이어달리기'는 시민들이 화합하는 소통의 장으로 운영됐다.
◆ 2년 연속 1품 축제 선정…내년 콘텐츠 강화 계획
서산시는 이번 1품 축제 선정을 바탕으로 내년 서산해미읍성축제를 더욱 풍성하고 차별화된 콘텐츠로 구성할 계획이다. 이완섭 서산시장은 "서산해미읍성축제가 2년 연속 1품 축제로 선정된 것은 축제의 경쟁력과 지속 가능성을 인정받은 결과"라며 "앞으로도 축제의 완성도를 높여 서산의 전통문화와 관광자원을 전국에 알릴 계획"이라고 말했다.

The evaluation has been conducted since 2023 to foster premium festivals representing cities and counties and strengthen the competitiveness of regional festivals. Chungnam Province comprehensively evaluated the 15 representative festivals of cities and counties in the province based on previous year's operational performance, improvement plans, carbon neutrality efforts, and growth potential.

The Seosan Haemi Eupseong Festival received high marks for presenting differentiated content by reinterpreting Joseon Dynasty history and traditions in a modern way. The operation method in which local residents take the lead in participation was also well-received. The 22nd Seosan Haemi Eupseong Festival, held from September 26 to 28 in the Haemi Eupseong area, concluded successfully with approximately 209,000 tourists visiting. A total of 38 programs were conducted under the theme 'Goseongbanga Season 3 - Meeting the Wisdom of Past, Present, and Future.' Traditional wedding experiences recreating Joseon Dynasty traditions, the King Taejong Procession, the Black Eagles Air Show, and performances implementing Seosan's historical figures through drawing virtual videos captured tourists' attention. 'Igojigo Relay Race,' in which local residents directly participated in the festival, was operated as a venue for citizen harmony and communication.
◆ Selected as Premium Festival for 2 Consecutive Years…Plans to Strengthen Content Next Year
Seosan City plans to organize next year's Seosan Haemi Eupseong Festival with more abundant and differentiated content based on this premium festival selection. Seosan Mayor Lee Wan-seop said, "The selection of Seosan Haemi Eupseong Festival as a premium festival for 2 consecutive years is the result of recognition of the festival's competitiveness and sustainability" and "We plan to continue enhancing the festival's completeness to promote Seosan's traditional culture and tourism resources nationwide."
