◆ 해수부 내년 연안 여객항로 안정화 지원 14개 항로 선정

해양수산부는 내년 연안 여객항로 안정화 지원사업 대상으로 14개 항로를 선정했다고 23일 밝혔다. 해수부는 2018년부터 서해안 섬 주민의 1일 내 육지 왕래 실현과 적자 항로 운항 결손금 지원을 위해 이 사업을 추진해왔다. 이 사업은 연안 여객선의 항로 단절을 방지하고 섬 주민의 교통권을 보장하는 것이 목적이다.

◆ 1일 생활권 구축 4개 항로 선정

1일 생활권 구축 항로는 항차 추가 운행을 통해 당일 섬과 육지 왕래를 지원하는 항로다. 운항 결손금 발생 시 국가가 50%, 해당 지자체가 50%를 지원한다. 1일 생활권 구축 항로에는 백령-인천, 장봉-삼목, 여수-거문, 가거-목포 등 4개 항로가 선정됐다.

◆ 적자항로 10개 항로 선정…운항결손액 최대 70% 지원

적자항로는 최근 2년간 연속 적자가 발생한 항로다. 국가는 예산 범위 내에서 해당 항로 운항결손액의 최대 70%까지 지원한다. 적자항로에는 여수-함구미, 여수-둔병, 통영-당금, 통영-욕지, 통영-용초, 대부-이작, 인천-덕적, 당목-서성, 땅끝-산양, 흑산-가거 등 10개 항로가 선정됐다. 허만욱 해수부 해운물류국장은 "이 사업이 항로 단절 위험에 처해있거나 당일 육지 왕복이 어려운 섬 주민들에게 도움이 될 것"이라며 "섬 주민들이 항로 단절 불안에서 벗어나 생업에 집중할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Ten deficit routes were selected: Yeosu-Hamgumi, Yeosu-Dunbyeong, Tongyeong-Danggeum, Tongyeong-Yokji, Tongyeong-Yongcho, Daebu-Ijak, Incheon-Deokjeok, Dangmok-Seoseong, Ttangkkeut-Sanyang, and Heuksan-Gageodo. Heo Man-wook, Director General of Shipping and Logistics Bureau at the Ministry, stated, "This project is expected to help island residents who are at risk of route disconnection or who have difficulty making same-day round trips to the mainland," adding, "We will make efforts so that island residents can focus on their livelihoods free from anxiety about route disconnection."
