◆ 외국인 응급신고 지원 체계 한층 강화

충남소방본부가 25일 도청 소회의실에서 '2025년 하반기 119외국어 통역 봉사자 위촉식 및 간담회'를 열었다. 이번 행사에는 위촉 기간 만료로 재위촉되는 통역 봉사자 6명을 포함해 기존 봉사자와 소방 관계자 총 25명이 참석했다. 성호선 소방본부장은 외국인 대상 소방 서비스 혁신을 위한 협력 기반을 더욱 공고히 하겠다고 밝혔다.

◆ 13개 언어로 390건 신고 지원…올해도 다양한 사례 기록

충남소방의 119외국어 통역 봉사자들은 지난 5년간 러시아어 등 13개 언어로 390건의 외국어 신고를 지원했다. 올해는 논산시 연무읍 화재 신고 시 위치 파악이 어려웠으나 빠른 통역으로 신속 대응해 화재를 진화했다. 아산시 둔포면에서는 자살 시도자 구조, 아산시 득산동에서는 임산부 긴급 병원 이송 등 화재부터 구조·구급까지 다양한 소방 활동에서 통역 봉사자들이 활약했다.

◆ 정기 간담회 통해 3자 통역 개선…통역 기반 확충 계획

소방본부는 정기 간담회 등을 통해 3자 통역 시 발생하는 어려움을 개선할 방향을 지속 모색한다. 더 나은 소방 서비스 제공을 위해 통역 기반을 확충할 계획이다. 성호선 소방본부장은 "정기적인 소통·협력으로 통역 봉사자와의 유기적 체계를 강화할 것"이라고 말했다.

◆ Foreign Language Emergency Support System Further Strengthened

The Chungcheongnam-do Fire Department held a '2025 Second Half 119 Foreign Language Interpreter Volunteer Appointment Ceremony and Forum' at the Provincial Government Conference Room on November 25. Twenty-five participants attended the event, including six foreign language interpreters reappointed as their appointment terms expired, existing volunteers, and fire department officials. Fire Department Chief Sung Ho-sun announced strengthening the cooperation framework for innovative fire and emergency services for foreign residents.

◆ Support for 390 Emergency Calls in 13 Languages Over Past Five Years… Multiple Cases Recorded This Year

The Chungcheongnam-do Fire Department's 119 foreign language interpreter volunteers supported 390 foreign language emergency reports in 13 languages, including Russian, over the past five years. This year, when locating a fire report in Yeonmu-eup, Nonsan-si proved difficult, rapid interpretation enabled swift response and successful fire extinguishment. In Dunpo-myeon, Asan-si, interpreters aided in rescue of a suicide attempt victim, and in Deuksan-dong, Asan-si, they assisted in emergency hospital transport of a pregnant woman. Interpreter volunteers demonstrated their value across diverse fire and emergency operations from fire suppression to rescue and emergency medical services.

◆ Ongoing Improvement Through Regular Forums… Plans to Expand Interpretation Infrastructure

The Fire Department will continue to explore ways to improve difficulties encountered during three-way interpretation through regular forums and discussions. Plans include expanding the interpretation infrastructure to provide better fire and emergency services. Fire Department Chief Sung Ho-sun stated, "We will strengthen the organic system with interpretation volunteers through regular communication and cooperation."
