◆ 국민체육공단 이사장상 수상

옥천국민체육센터가 2025년도 전국 우수공공체육시설 우수시설로 선정돼 국민체육공단 이사장상을 받았다. 문화체육관광부와 국민체육진흥공단이 주최·주관한 이번 평가는 전국 248개 공공체육시설을 대상으로 실시했다. 평가는 경영관리, 운영 활성화, 시설관리 등 3개 분야를 중심으로 11개 정량평가와 6개 정성평가를 종합해 진행됐다. 최종 15개소만 우수시설로 선정됐으며, 옥천국민체육센터는 이 중 우수상 5개소에 포함됐다.

◆ 연간 24만 명 이용 지역 체육 거점

옥천국민체육센터는 연간 약 24만 명의 이용자가 찾는 지역 대표 체육시설이다. 수질여과기 추가 설치, 냉·난방기 설비 교체 등 시설 현대화 사업을 지속적으로 추진해 쾌적한 이용 환경을 조성했다. 정기적인 만족도 조사를 통해 수요가 높은 종목을 신규 프로그램에 반영하는 방식으로 이용자 편의성과 안전 강화에 중점을 뒀다. 이 같은 노력들이 심사위원들로부터 높은 평가를 받은 것으로 평가된다.

◆ 군민 건강 증진 프로그램 확대 추진

황규철 옥천군수는 "옥천국민체육센터가 군민 건강 증진과 주민 삶의 질 향상을 위해 최적의 시설 환경을 유지하고 다양한 프로그램 운영을 계속하겠다"고 밝혔다. 옥천군은 체육센터의 우수상 수상을 계기로 주민 수요에 맞는 생활체육 프로그램 확대를 추진할 계획이다.

Okcheon National Sports Center received the Excellent National Public Sports Facility award for 2025 and was honored with the Korea Sports Promotion Corporation Director Award. The evaluation was held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, assessing 248 public sports facilities nationwide. The assessment combined 11 quantitative evaluations and 6 qualitative evaluations focused on three areas: management, operational activation, and facility management. Only 15 facilities earned excellent status nationwide, with Okcheon National Sports Center selected among the five recipients of the excellence award.

◆ Regional Sports Hub Serving 240,000 Annual Users

Okcheon National Sports Center serves approximately 240,000 users annually and functions as the region's representative sports facility. The center has continuously conducted facility modernization projects including the installation of additional water filtration systems and replacement of heating and cooling equipment, creating a comfortable user environment. Through regular satisfaction surveys, the center reflects high-demand sports programs to newly developed offerings, prioritizing user convenience and safety enhancement. These efforts received high marks from the evaluation committee.

◆ Expanding Community Health Programs

Okcheon County Governor Hwang Gyu-chul stated, "Okcheon National Sports Center will maintain optimal facility conditions and continue diverse program operations for the health promotion and quality of life improvement of county residents." The county plans to expand community sports programs based on resident demand, capitalizing on the center's excellence award.
