◆론스타 ISDS 취소위 '대한민국 승소' 결정
한국 정부가 미국계 사모펀드 론스타에 2억1,650만 달러를 지급해야 한다는 판정이 2년여 간의 국제분쟁 끝에 18일 취소되자 대통령실은 환영의 뜻을 표했다. 강유정 대통령실 대변인은 이날 오후 언론 공지를 통해 "외환은행 매각과 관련해 정부에 전혀 위법 행위가 없었음에도 정부의 배상 책임을 인정했던 기존 중재판정의 오류가 바로 잡혔다"며 "이에 환영의 뜻을 밝힌다"고 했다. 이는 국제투자분쟁해결센터(ICSID)의 론스타 ISDS 취소위원회가 이날 '대한민국 승소' 결정을 내린 데 따른 것이다.
◆4,000억 원 배상 책임 사라지고 소송 비용 받아
우리 정부는 약 4,000억 원의 원금과 이자를 론스타에 배상할 책임이 사라졌으며 승소에 따라 우리측 소송 비용 약 73억 원을 론스타로부터 지급받게 됐다. 강 대변인은 "정부는 지금까지 국가 차원의 대응 체계를 구성해 사건 대응에 최선을 다해왔다"며 "그간의 노력이 좋은 성과로 귀결된 것을 반긴다"고 했다.
◆"정부 관계자·소송 대리인·국민께 감사"
강 대변인은 "그 과정에서 혼신의 노력을 다해주신 정부 관계자, 소송 대리인, 그리고 정부를 믿고 응원해준 국민께 감사드린다"고 덧붙였다.
