◆ 만 15세 무면허 운전, 검찰 기소유예 처분
가수 정동원이 미성년자 시절 무면허 운전 혐의로 검찰로부터 기소유예 처분을 받았다. 서울서부지검은 도로교통법 위반 혐의를 받는 정동원에 대해 6일 기소유예 처분했다고 8일 밝혔다. 정동원은 2023년 1월 경남 하동에서 면허 없이 아버지 소유 트럭을 운전한 혐의를 받았다. 2007년 3월생인 정동원은 당시 만 15세로 운전면허를 취득할 수 없는 나이였다. 도로교통법 제82조는 만 18세 미만은 운전면허를 받을 수 없다고 규정한다. 기소유예는 피의사실이 인정되더라도 피의자의 연령과 범행 결과를 고려해 재판에 넘기지 않는 불기소 결정이다.

정동원은 지난 3월 무면허 운전 영상을 빌미로 협박을 받았다. 협박범들은 정동원의 잃어버린 휴대전화에 담긴 사생활을 유포하겠다며 5억 원을 요구했다. 정동원은 경찰에 고소장을 제출했고 협박 수사와 함께 무면허 운전 혐의 수사도 시작됐다. 정동원을 협박했던 공갈범 3명은 모두 검거됐다. 이 중 2명은 지난 9월 실형을 선고받았다.
◆ 2023년 이어 두 번째 기소유예…소속사 "주의 기울이겠다"
정동원이 기소유예 처분을 받은 것은 이번이 두 번째다. 정동원은 2023년 3월 자동차전용도로인 서울 동부간선도로에서 오토바이를 몰다 적발돼 도로교통법 위반 혐의로 기소유예 처분을 받았다. 정동원 소속사 쇼플레이 엔터테인먼트는 공식 팬카페를 통해 "검찰로부터 기소유예 처분을 받았다"며 "아티스트 행동 하나하나에 문제없도록 더욱 주의를 기울이겠다"고 밝혔다.
