◆ 황새 방사 20주년 기념행사 참석
충청남도 예산군은 10월 18일부터 20일까지 일본 효고현 도요오카시를 방문해 황새 방사 20주년 기념행사에 참석하고 생태복원 선진지를 견학했다고 4일 밝혔다. 최재구 예산군수를 포함한 군 관계자 8명은 10월 19일 효고현립 황새고향공원 다목적홀에서 열린 '도요오카시-예산군 교류 심포지엄'에 참석했다. 도요오카시는 2005년 인공증식 황새를 처음 방사한 이후 올해 20주년을 맞았다. 최 군수는 심포지엄에서 '예산군의 황새 도입과 복원을 위한 지난 10여 년간의 노력과 성과'를 주제로 발표하고 예산황새공원을 중심으로 한 생태복원과 지역공동체 보전활동 사례를 소개했다.
◆ 미래세대 교류 프로그램 추진 합의
최재구 군수는 카도마다케시 도요오카시장과 면담하고 양 도시 간 협력 방안을 논의했다. 양측은 황새복원을 매개로 국제 협력을 확대하고 어린이 상호 방문과 체험 프로그램을 추진하기로 합의했다. 방문단은 효고현립 황새고향공원에서 황새문화관과 사육 시스템을 견학했다. 방문단은 공원 내 로컬푸드 매장을 방문해 황새와 지역 농업이 조화를 이루는 지역경제 모델을 확인했다. 도시마 습지에서는 황새 자연 번식지 관리와 주민 참여형 보호 활동 사례를 살폈다.
◆ 친환경 농업 체계 벤치마킹
방문단은 친환경 황새 쌀을 생산하는 농업체계 벤치마킹을 위해 도요오카시 농업센터와 학교 급식소를 방문했다. 최재구 군수는 "도요오카시의 황새복원 경험은 예산군의 황새복원사업과 친환경 농업 체계 구축에 시사점을 준다"며 "두 도시 간 협력과 교류를 강화해 국제적 생태도시로 성장하겠다"고 밝혔다. 예산군은 도요오카시와 황새복원을 매개로 국제 교류를 확대한다.

◆ Attends 20th Anniversary Ceremony of Stork Release
Yesan County in Chungcheongnam-do Province announced on the 4th that it visited Toyooka City in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan from October 18 to 20 to attend the 20th anniversary ceremony of stork release and toured advanced ecological restoration sites. Yesan County Governor Choi Jae-gu and seven other county officials attended the 'Toyooka City-Yesan County Exchange Symposium' held on October 19 at the multipurpose hall of Hyogo Prefectural Homeland for the Oriental White Stork. Toyooka City marked its 20th anniversary this year since it first released artificially bred storks in 2005. Governor Choi presented on 'Yesan County's Efforts and Achievements in Stork Introduction and Restoration Over the Past Decade' at the symposium and introduced cases of ecological restoration centered on Yesan Stork Park and community-based conservation activities.
◆ Agreement to Pursue Youth Exchange Programs
Governor Choi Jae-gu met with Toyooka Mayor Kadomadakeshi and discussed cooperation plans between the two cities. Both sides agreed to expand international cooperation through stork restoration and pursue mutual children's visits and experience programs. The delegation toured the Stork Culture Center and breeding system at Hyogo Prefectural Homeland for the Oriental White Stork. The delegation visited a local food store in the park and examined a regional economic model that harmonizes storks and local agriculture. At Toshima Wetland, they observed cases of stork natural breeding ground management and resident-participatory protection activities.
◆ Benchmarking Eco-Friendly Agricultural System
The delegation visited Toyooka City Agriculture Center and school cafeterias to benchmark the agricultural system that produces eco-friendly stork rice. Governor Choi Jae-gu stated, "Toyooka City's stork restoration experience provides implications for Yesan County's stork restoration project and establishment of an eco-friendly agricultural system," adding, "We will strengthen cooperation and exchanges between the two cities to grow as international ecological cities." Yesan County expands international exchanges with Toyooka City through stork restoration.
