정영철 영동군수가 28일 정부 주요 부처를 방문해 '국립국악원 영동분원' 설립의 필요성과 당위성을 설명하고 적극적인 지원을 요청했다.

정영철 군수는 이날 세종시에 위치한 기획재정부 정향우 사회예산심의관, 문화체육관광부 이정우 문화예술정책실장, 국토교통부 한동욱 혁신도시지원협력과장을 각각 만났다. 정 군수는 영동군의 국악 진흥 정책과 향후 발전 구상을 공유했다.

정 군수는 "영동군은 60여 년 동안 난계 박연 선생의 업적을 계승하며 국악 발전을 위해 꾸준히 노력해왔다"며 "난계국악축제 개최, 난계국악단 창단, 국악기제작촌과 국악체험촌 조성 등으로 국악의 뿌리를 지켜왔다"고 밝혔다. 이어 "이 같은 노력을 바탕으로 2025 영동세계국악엑스포를 성공적으로 개최하며 국악의 세계화에 큰 발걸음을 내디뎠다"며 "국립국악원 영동분원이 설립된다면 그 성과를 이어가고 국악문화가 꽃피는 계기가 될 것"이라고 강조했다.

정 군수는 "국립국악원 영동분원은 국악의 상징인 박연의 고장 영동을 중심으로 국악 전승·교육·연구의 거점 역할을 수행하게 될 것"이라며 "정부 차원의 관심과 지원을 부탁드린다"고 당부했다. 영동군은 앞으로도 관련 부처와의 지속적인 협의를 통해 부지 확보, 기반시설 조성, 운영계획 등을 구체화하며 국립국악원 영동분원 유치 실현에 박차를 가할 계획이다.

Mayor Jeong met separately with Jung Hyang-woo, Social Budget Examiner at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Lee Jeong-woo, Director of Culture and Arts Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Han Dong-wook, Director of Innovation City Support and Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, all located in Sejong City. Mayor Jeong shared Yeongdong County's gugak promotion policies and future development plans.

Mayor Jeong stated, "Yeongdong County has steadily worked for gugak development for over 60 years by inheriting the achievements of Nangye Park Yeon," adding, "We have preserved the roots of gugak through hosting the Nangye Gugak Festival, founding the Nangye Gugak Orchestra, and creating the Gugak Instrument Manufacturing Village and Gugak Experience Village." He continued, "Based on these efforts, we successfully hosted the 2025 Yeongdong World Gugak Expo and took a major step toward globalizing gugak," emphasizing, "If the National Gugak Center Yeongdong Branch is established, it will continue that achievement and become an opportunity for gugak culture to flourish."

Mayor Jeong urged, "The National Gugak Center Yeongdong Branch will serve as a hub for gugak transmission, education, and research centered on Yeongdong, the hometown of Park Yeon, a symbol of gugak," adding, "We ask for government-level interest and support." Yeongdong County plans to accelerate the realization of attracting the National Gugak Center Yeongdong Branch by specifying site acquisition, infrastructure construction, and operation plans through continued consultations with relevant ministries.
