충주시, 서충주 급행버스 11월 1일 운행 출퇴근 시간 20분 단축·2개 노선 하루 6회 운행
◆서충주-시내 간 이동 불편 해소
충주시가 서충주 시민의 교통 편의를 위해 오는 11월 1일부터 '서충주 급행버스'를 정식 운행한다. 이번 급행버스 도입은 서충주 신도시와 구도심 간 이동 불편을 해소하고, 시민들의 출퇴근 시간을 대폭 단축하기 위한 사업이다.
◆2개 노선·12개 주요 승강장만 정차
급행버스는 서충주–호암동, 서충주–연수동 등 2개 노선으로 운행되며, 이용률이 높은 12개 주요 승강장만 정차해 이동 효율을 극대화했다. 각 노선은 하루 6회 운행되며, 출근 시간대에는 오전 7시 35분·7시 45분에 서충주(자이아파트 승강장)에서, 막차는 오후 9시 10분 호암동(우미린 승강장), 9시 40분에 충주시청(원형교차로 앞)에서 각각 출발한다. 시는 8월 주민 설문조사를 통해 차량 디자인을 선정하고, 9월 주민설명회를 열어 운행 노선과 시간표를 주민 의견에 따라 최종 확정했다.
◆평균 20분 이상 시간 단축 효과 기대
시는 기존에 공용버스터미널에서 환승해야 했던 불편을 해소하고, 출퇴근 소요시간을 평균 20분 이상 단축하는 실질적 효과를 기대하고 있다. 시 관계자는 "이번 급행버스 운행으로 서충주와 시내 지역 간 이동이 한층 빨라지고 편리해질 것"이라며 "앞으로도 시민들의 생활 동선을 고려한 교통 인프라 개선에 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다. 서충주 지역에는 시내버스 3개 노선(40회)과 서충주순환버스 2개 노선(20회) 등이 운행 중이며, 이번 급행버스 개통으로 지역 교통망은 한층 촘촘해질 전망이다.

The city selected the vehicle design through a resident survey in August and held a resident briefing in September to finalize the operation routes and timetable according to residents' opinions.
