충남 서산시는 한국관광공사와 함께 10월 27일 서산 대산항 기항 크루즈 유치를 위한 팸투어를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이날 팸투어는 미국 아자마라 크루즈 선사 관계자를 초청해 대한민국 7대 기항지인 서산의 해양관광 인프라와 문화자원을 홍보하기 위해 마련됐다.

아자마라 크루즈는 2007년 설립된 크루즈 선사로 미국 마이애미에 본사를 두고 있다. 현재 Azamara Journey, Quest, Pursuit, Onward 등 4척의 선박을 운영 중이다.

참석자들은 서산 대산항 국제여객터미널을 방문해 대형 크루즈선이 원활하게 입·출항할 수 있는 항만 인프라를 확인했다.

이어 삼길포와 서산한우목장길, 서산해미읍성 등 주요 관광자원을 답사했다.

선사 관계자들은 대산항과 인접한 삼길포를 방문해 회 뜨는 선상과 포구를 둘러보며 해양 관광지로서 서산을 알아가는 시간을 가졌다.

광활한 초지 위 힐링 공간으로 사랑받는 서산한우목장길은 선사 관계자들에게 이국적이고 수려한 풍경을 선사하며 큰 호응을 받았다.

선사 관계자들은 조선시대 병영성으로서 핵심 요충지였던 서산해미읍성에서 서산의 역사와 문화를 체감했다.

서산해미읍성에서는 줄타기, 승무, 기접놀이 등 전통문화 공연이 진행돼 선사 관계자들에게 한국 고유의 멋과 흥을 전달했다.

시는 서산의 관광 매력을 선사 관계자들이 직접 체험한 이번 팸투어가 지역 문화 및 관광 상품의 글로벌 홍보와 상품화 확대 등에 긍정적인 효과가 있을 것으로 전망했다.

이완섭 서산시장은 "이번 행사는 서산이 가진 해양·문화관광의 우수성을 해외 관계자들에게 직접 알릴 수 있는 뜻깊은 자리"라며 "앞으로도 대산항의 국제 크루즈 유치를 위해 다양한 협력과 홍보 활동을 이어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

시는 지난해 충청권 최초 국제 크루즈선 운항을 성공한 데 이어 올해도 국제 크루즈선 운항에 성공하며 대한민국 7대 기항지로서 입지를 굳건히 했다.

시는 대표 크루즈 관광도시 도약을 위해 2026년부터 ▲서산 크루즈산업 중장기 발전계획 수립 ▲서산 고유의 지역 문화 콘텐츠 개발 ▲테마형 관광 루트 개발 ▲해외 공동 포트세일즈 참가 ▲대규모 관광객 유치를 위한 인프라 개선 등을 추진할 방침이다.

Seosan City, South Chungcheong Province, announced it conducted a FAM tour on October 27 to attract cruise calls to Seosan Daesan Port together with Korea Tourism Organization.

The FAM tour was arranged to invite officials from US Azamara Cruise Line and promote Seosan's marine tourism infrastructure and cultural resources as one of Korea's seven major ports of call.

Azamara Cruise is a cruise line established in 2007 with headquarters in Miami, USA. It currently operates four vessels: Azamara Journey, Quest, Pursuit, and Onward.

Participants visited Seosan Daesan Port International Passenger Terminal and confirmed the port infrastructure that allows large cruise ships to smoothly enter and depart.

They then toured major tourism resources that attract tourists' attention, including Samgilpo, Seosan Korean Beef Ranch Road, and Seosan Haemi Eupseong.

Cruise line officials visited Samgilpo near Daesan Port and toured boats serving raw fish and the port, learning about Seosan as a marine tourism destination.

Seosan Korean Beef Ranch Road, loved as a healing space on vast grasslands, received great response from cruise line officials by presenting exotic and beautiful scenery.

Cruise line officials experienced Seosan's history and culture at Seosan Haemi Eupseong, which was a key strategic point as a military fortress during the Joseon Dynasty.

Traditional cultural performances including tightrope walking, monk dance, and Gijeop play were held at Seosan Haemi Eupseong, vividly conveying Korea's unique beauty and excitement to cruise line officials.

The city forecasted this FAM tour, where cruise line officials directly experienced Seosan's tourism attractions, will have positive effects on global promotion and commercialization expansion of regional culture and tourism products.

Seosan Mayor Lee Wan-seop stated, "This event is a meaningful opportunity to directly inform overseas officials about the excellence of Seosan's marine and cultural tourism," adding, "We will continue various cooperation and promotional activities to attract international cruises to Daesan Port."

The city solidified its position as one of Korea's seven major ports of call by succeeding in operating international cruise ships this year following last year's first international cruise ship operation in the Chungcheong region.

The city plans to promote establishment of mid-to-long-term development plan for Seosan cruise industry, development of Seosan's unique regional cultural content, development of themed tourism routes, participation in overseas joint port sales, and infrastructure improvement to attract large-scale tourists from 2026 to leap forward as a representative cruise tourism city.
