보령시의회(의장 최은순)는 민족 최대 명절인 추석을 앞두고 1일 사회복지시설 3개소 및 전통시장 5개소를 방문해 위문 활동과 전통시장 장보기 행사를 진행했다. 이날 행사에는 최 의장을 비롯한 시의원과 의회사무국 직원들이 함께 참여했으며, 보령육아원, 행복한집, 대천요양원을 차례로 찾아 입소 아동과 어르신들에게 화장지, 물티슈 등 생활용품을 전달하며 따뜻한 위로와 격려의 마음을 전했다.

오후에는 웅천시장, 중앙시장, 동부시장 등을 방문해 명절 장보기를 하며 상인들과 소통하고, 전통시장 이용을 권장하는 캠페인을 펼쳐 지역경제 활성화에 힘을 보탰다.

최은순 의장은 "추석은 서로의 따뜻한 마음을 나누는 소중한 시간"이라며 "이번 위문과 장보기 행사가 복지시설에 작은 힘이 되고, 전통시장에 활력을 불어넣는 계기가 되길 바란다"고 밝혔다. 보령시의회는 앞으로도 명절뿐만 아니라 평소에도 지역의 소외계층을 살피고, 골목경제를 살리는 다양한 활동을 지속적으로 추진해 나갈 계획이다.
