괴산군, 250억 투입해 연풍면 도시재생 본격화 LED 가로등 149개소 교체 완료…2027년까지 체류형 관광거점 조성
충청북도 괴산군은 총사업비 250억 원을 투입해 연풍면 도시재생사업을 본격 추진한다고 16일 밝혔다.
연풍면은 조령 3관문과 이화령고개로 알려진 지역으로, 트레킹과 자전거 여행객이 많이 찾는다. 군은 2027년까지 이 지역을 체류형 관광거점으로 발전시킬 계획이다.
사업은 ▲연풍으로 오는길 ▲연풍여행자플랫폼 ▲안전한 자연쉼터 연풍 등 3개 프로젝트로 구성됐다.
LED 가로등 149개소 교체 완료
군은 '연풍으로 오는길' 사업으로 연풍면 행촌리와 삼풍리 일대 노후 가로등 149개소를 LED 조명으로 교체했다.
새 LED 조명은 기존 형광등보다 2~3배 밝고 전력 소모가 적다. 유지관리비 절감 효과도 있다. 고령 인구가 많은 지역 특성상 야간 보행 불안 해소와 안전사고 예방에 도움이 된다.
행촌리 주민 A씨는 "밤길이 어두워 걱정이 많았는데, 가로등이 바뀐 뒤 훨씬 밝고 안전해졌다"며 "마을 분위기까지 환해진 느낌"이라고 말했다.
자전거 여행객 위한 복합문화공간 조성
군은 자전거 여행객과 관광객을 위한 복합문화공간 '연풍여행자플랫폼'을 조성한다.
이곳에는 자전거 스테이션, 전시관, 관광거점공간, 여행자휴게소가 들어선다. 플랫폼 인근에는 '연풍여행자 어울림마당'이 조성돼 자전거 보관소와 광장이 마련된다. 향후 자전거 행사와 지역 축제가 열리는 도시재생 거점공간으로 활용될 예정이다.
연풍시장 주변 쉼터 조성 공사 진행
'안전한 자연쉼터 연풍' 사업을 통해 연풍시장 주변에 주민과 여행객을 위한 쉼터를 조성한다.
현재 토목 정비 공사가 진행 중이다. 완공 후에는 휴식과 교류가 가능한 도심 속 쉼터로 단장된다.
송인헌 군수는 "연풍면 도시재생사업은 지역의 오래된 공간에 새 생명을 불어넣는 일"이라며 "주민이 체감할 수 있는 생활환경 개선과 함께, 연풍이 머무르고 싶은 관광지로 발전할 수 있도록 지속적으로 추진하겠다"고 말했다.

The new LED lights are 2-3 times brighter than existing fluorescent lights and consume less power. They also reduce maintenance costs. Given the area's large elderly population, they help ease anxiety about walking at night and prevent safety accidents.
Resident A from Haengchon-ri said, "I was worried about the dark roads at night, but after the street lights were changed, it became much brighter and safer," adding, "Even the village atmosphere feels brighter."
Creating Multi-Cultural Space for Bicycle Tourists
The county is creating 'Yeonpung Traveler Platform', a multi-cultural space for bicycle tourists and visitors.
The facility will include a bicycle station, exhibition hall, tourism hub space, and traveler's rest area. Near the platform, 'Yeonpung Traveler Community Square' will be established with bicycle storage and a plaza. It will serve as an urban regeneration hub for bicycle events and local festivals.
Rest Area Construction Underway Near Yeonpung Market
Through the 'Safe Natural Rest Area Yeonpung' project, a rest area for residents and travelers is being created near Yeonpung Market.
Civil engineering work is currently underway. After completion, it will be renovated as an urban rest area where people can relax and interact.
County Governor Song In-heon said, "The Yeonpung-myeon urban regeneration project breathes new life into the region's old spaces," adding, "We will continue to pursue improvements to the living environment that residents can feel, while developing Yeonpung into a tourist destination where people want to stay."
