아산시가 환경부 주관 '2026년 국가생태탐방로 조성사업' 신규 대상지로 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
전국 5곳만이 최종 선정된 이번 공모에서 아산시는 중부권 생태관광 거점으로서의 위상을 입증했다. 충남에서는 아산시와 금산군이 선정됐다.
곡교천~삽교천 14.5km 구간에 편의시설 설치
이번 사업은 곡교천에서 삽교천까지 약 14.5km 구간을 따라 생태탐방로를 조성하는 사업이다. 총사업비 45억 원(국비 50%)이 투입된다. 2026년 실시설계용역을 시작으로 2028년까지 단계적으로 추진된다.
탐방로에는 데크길과 조류관찰대, 전망대, 쉼터, 안내판 등 다양한 편의시설이 설치된다. 전 구간이 국유지로 구성돼 토지 보상 절차 없이 신속한 착공이 가능하다.
계절별 테마 탐방로 조성
시는 이번 사업을 사계절 생태문화탐방로로 발전시킬 계획이다. 봄에는 유채꽃과 나비가 어우러지는 '봄꽃향기길', 여름에는 금개구리와 법정보호종이 서식하는 '여름둠벙길', 가을에는 은빛 억새가 물결치는 '가을억새길', 겨울에는 30만 마리 가창오리의 장관을 감상할 수 있는 '겨울눈꽃섬길' 등 계절별 테마를 반영해 조성된다.
주변 관광자원과 연계 효과 기대
사업구간 주변에는 현충사, 영인산자연휴양림, 도고온천, 은행나무길 등 아산을 대표하는 역사·문화·관광자원이 밀집해 있다. 탐방로 개통 시 지역 관광과 상권 활성화에도 도움이 될 전망이다.
오세현 시장은 "이번 선정은 단순한 예산 확보가 아니라, 아산시가 생태와 문화, 산업이 조화된 지속가능도시로 나아가는 출발점"이라며 "곡교천과 삽교천이 시민의 발길로 이어지고, 자연이 일상 속 쉼이 되는 길이 되도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

Convenience Facilities to be Installed in 14.5km Section from Gokgyocheon to Sapgyocheon
This project involves creating an ecological trail along approximately 14.5km from Gokgyocheon to Sapgyocheon. A total budget of 4.5 billion won (50% from the national budget) will be invested. It will be promoted in stages from the detailed design service in 2026 until 2028.
The trail will be equipped with various convenience facilities including deck paths, bird observation decks, observation towers, rest areas, and information boards. The entire section consists of state-owned land, enabling rapid construction without land compensation procedures.
Seasonal Themed Trail Construction
The city plans to develop this project into a four-season ecological and cultural trail. It will be created reflecting seasonal themes including 'Spring Flower Fragrance Trail' where rape blossoms and butterflies harmonize in spring, 'Summer Wetland Trail' where gold frogs and legally protected species inhabit in summer, 'Autumn Silver Grass Trail' where silver pampas grass ripples in fall, and 'Winter Snow Flower Island Trail' where the spectacular sight of 300,000 baikal teals can be enjoyed in winter.
Linkage Effects with Surrounding Tourist Resources Expected
Around the project section, representative historical, cultural, and tourist resources of Asan such as Hyeonchungsa Shrine, Yeonginsan Natural Recreation Forest, Dogo Hot Spring, and Ginkgo Tree Road are concentrated. When the trail opens, it is expected to greatly help revitalize local tourism and commercial areas.
Mayor Oh Se-hyun said, "This selection is not just securing budget, but a starting point for Asan City to move forward as a sustainable city where ecology, culture, and industry are harmonized," adding, "We will do our best to connect Gokgyocheon and Sapgyocheon with citizens' footsteps and make nature a rest in daily life."
