아산시(시장 오세현)와 (사)외암민속마을보존회(회장 이규정)는 추석 연휴 기간(6~9일) 외암민속마을과 저잣거리 일원에서 열린 '짚풀문화제 사전행사'가 성황리에 마무리됐다고 13일 밝혔다.
이번 사전행사는 17일부터 19일까지 열리는 '제24회 외암민속마을 짚풀문화제'를 앞두고, 추석연휴를 맞아 귀성객과 관광객이 전통의 멋과 정취를 미리 느낄 수 있도록 마련됐다.
방문객들은 공연, 외암마을 그림 공모전, 떡메치기 체험, 외암 명물빵 시식, 반려돌 만들기 등 다양한 프로그램을 즐기며 풍성한 명절 분위기를 만끽했다. 주최 측에 따르면 약 4만명이 행사장을 찾은 것으로 추산된다.
사전 신청을 통해 진행된 '가족 허수아비 만들기 대회'는 부모와 아이가 함께 참여해 큰 인기를 끌었다. 현장 체험 프로그램인 '반려돌 만들기'도 어린이들의 창의력을 자극하며 즐거움을 선사했다.
'전통 떡메치기 체험'은 세대가 함께 어우러지는 소통의 장이 되었다. 외암민속마을의 고즈넉한 풍경과 어우러진 체험 부스들은 명절 나들이 명소로 큰 인기를 모았다.
김은성 아산시 문화유산과장은 "추석 사전행사에 보여주신 시민과 관광객들의 뜨거운 관심이 본행사로 이어져, 짚풀문화제가 더욱 활기찬 가을 축제가 되길 기대한다"며 "전통과 현대가 조화를 이루는 외암민속마을의 매력을 많은 분들이 느끼시길 바란다"고 밝혔다.
제24회 외암민속마을 짚풀문화제는 10월 17일부터 19일까지 3일간 외암민속마을과 저잣거리 일원에서 개최된다. 전국 농악 페스티벌, 전국 짚풀짜기 경연대회, 짚풀공예 체험, 600m 새끼꼬기, 각종 공연 등 40여가지 전통문화 프로그램이 운영될 예정이다.

This pre-event was prepared to allow homecoming guests and tourists to experience the beauty and atmosphere of tradition in advance during the Chuseok holiday, ahead of the '24th Oeam Folk Village Straw Culture Festival' to be held from the 17th to the 19th.
Visitors enjoyed various programs such as performances, Oeam Village painting contest, rice cake pounding experience, Oeam specialty bread tasting, and companion stone making, enjoying a rich holiday atmosphere. According to the organizers, about 40,000 people visited the event venue.
The 'Family Scarecrow Making Contest' held through pre-registration was very popular with parents and children participating together. The on-site experience program 'Companion Stone Making' also stimulated children's creativity and provided enjoyment.
The 'Traditional Rice Cake Pounding Experience' became a place of communication where generations came together. Experience booths in harmony with the quiet scenery of Oeam Folk Village were very popular as a holiday outing spot.
Kim Eun-seong, head of the Cultural Heritage Division of Asan City, said, "I hope that the hot interest shown by citizens and tourists in the Chuseok pre-event will continue to the main event, and that the Straw Culture Festival will become a more vibrant autumn festival," and "I hope that many people will feel the charm of Oeam Folk Village, where tradition and modernity are in harmony."
Meanwhile, the 24th Oeam Folk Village Straw Culture Festival will be held for three days from October 17 to 19 at Oeam Folk Village and the market street. About 40 traditional culture programs such as the National Farmers' Music Festival, National Straw Weaving Contest, straw craft experience, 600m rope making, and various performances will be operated.
