보령시가 13일 보령문화예술회관 대공연장에서 RE100 비전선포식을 개최했다. 행사에는 시민 800여 명이 참석했다.

RE100은 기업과 가정이 사용하는 전력 100%를 재생에너지로 충당하는 것을 의미한다. 보령시는 석탄화력발전소 폐쇄에 따른 지역경제 위기를 극복하고 에너지그린도시로 전환하는 방안을 제시했다.

◆ RE100 비전의 핵심 내용

김동일 보령시장은 이날 발표자로 나서 탄소중립 선도도시 조성 계획을 밝혔다. 보령시는 공공주도 해상풍력 집적화단지 1.3GW와 태양광 집적화단지 202MW를 조성한다. 공영주차장 태양광 설치, 산업단지 및 영농형 태양광, 농업농촌 RE100 실증지원사업, 주민수익 창출형 마을발전소 설치 지원사업도 추진한다.

보령시는 태양광과 해상풍력 확대 보급을 통해 보령형 RE100 연금 재원을 마련한다. 지역 이익 공유와 지속 가능한 상생 사업을 추진하고 에너지 기본소득을 실현해 지역사회에 이익을 환원한다는 방침이다.

◆ 에너지 자립도 강화 계획

보령시는 친환경 대체발전 기업을 지역 내에 유치한다. 관내 기업들의 재생에너지 전환을 돕는 인프라를 구축해 에너지 자립도를 높이고 지역 경쟁력을 강화한다.

김동일 시장은 "과거 보령이 화력발전을 통해 국가 에너지 공급의 핵심 역할을 했다면, 미래의 보령은 바람과 햇빛을 이용한 청정에너지로 RE100 대한민국 탄소중립 선도도시를 조성할 것"이라고 말했다. 이어 "태양광, 해상풍력 등 신재생에너지 사업 본격 추진과 확대를 통해 보령형 햇빛·바람 연금 시대를 열겠다"고 밝혔다.

◆ 2026년 시정현안보고와 시민 대화

이날 행사는 2026년 시정현안보고, RE100 비전선포식, 병오년 시민과의 대화 순으로 진행됐다. 보령시는 'OK만세보령 RE100 비전'을 주제로 석탄화력발전소 폐쇄 이후 지역경제 활성화 방안을 시민들과 공유했다.

800 Citizens Attend Vision Declaration Event...Plans to Build 1.3GW Offshore Wind and 202MW Solar Power Complex

Boryeong City held an RE100 vision declaration ceremony at the Grand Performance Hall of Boryeong Culture and Arts Center on the 13th. Approximately 800 citizens attended the event.

RE100 means covering 100% of electricity used by companies and households with renewable energy. Boryeong City presented plans to overcome the regional economic crisis following the closure of coal-fired power plants and transform into an energy green city.

◆ Core Contents of RE100 Vision

Mayor Kim Dong-il of Boryeong City appeared as a presenter and announced plans to create a carbon-neutral leading city. Boryeong City will build a public-led offshore wind power complex of 1.3GW and a solar power complex of 202MW. The city will also install solar panels in public parking lots, industrial complexes and agricultural solar power, agricultural and rural RE100 demonstration support projects, and support projects for installing village power plants that generate profits for residents.

Boryeong City will secure financial resources for Boryeong-type RE100 pension through the expansion and distribution of solar and offshore wind power. The city plans to promote regional profit sharing and sustainable win-win projects, and return profits to the local community by realizing energy basic income.

◆ Energy Self-Sufficiency Enhancement Plan

Boryeong City will attract eco-friendly alternative power generation companies to the region. The city will build infrastructure to help local companies transition to renewable energy, increase energy self-sufficiency, and strengthen regional competitiveness.

Mayor Kim Dong-il said, "If Boryeong played a key role in national energy supply through thermal power generation in the past, future Boryeong will create a carbon-neutral leading city of RE100 Korea with clean energy using wind and sunlight." He added, "We will open the era of Boryeong-type sunlight and wind pension through the full-scale promotion and expansion of renewable energy projects such as solar and offshore wind power."

◆ 2026 Municipal Affairs Report and Citizen Dialogue

The event proceeded in the order of 2026 municipal affairs report, RE100 vision declaration ceremony, and dialogue with citizens in the year of Byeong-o. Boryeong City shared plans to revitalize the regional economy after the closure of coal-fired power plants with citizens under the theme of "OK Manse Boryeong RE100 Vision."
