충청남도 서산교육지원청(교육장 김지용)이 2026학년도 초등학교 3학년 1학기 사회과 지역교과서 '우리 지역 서산' 집필 작업을 진행하고 있다.

◆ 2022 개정교육과정 반영, '고장'에서 '지역'으로 명칭 변경

서산교육지원청은 최근 관내에서 개발협의회를 열고 새 교육과정에 부합하는 지역교과서 원고를 논의했다. 서산 관내 초등학교 교원으로 구성된 집필위원들이 참석했다.

교과서 명칭은 기존 '우리 고장 서산'에서 '우리 지역 서산'으로 변경됐다. 2022 개정 사회과 교육과정에서 '고장' 표현이 삭제되고 '지역' 개념이 도입된 데 따른 것이다. 교육과정은 학생들이 생활 공간을 자연, 사회, 문화가 결합된 배움의 장으로 인식하도록 설계됐다.

◆ 서산 자연환경·산업·문화 학생 눈높이로 구성

집필위원들은 서산의 자연환경, 산업, 생활 모습, 공동체 문화를 학생 수준에 맞춰 서술하고 있다. 그림 자료와 활동 중심 구성, 디지털 교과서 연계를 고려해 제작 중이다.

손우성 교육과장은 이날 협의회 현장을 방문해 집필위원들을 격려했다. 손 과장은 "지역교과서는 서산 학생들이 삶의 터전에서 배움을 시작하게 하는 교육 자산"이라고 말했다.

◆ 2026학년도 1학기 사용 예정

서산교육지원청은 이번 교과서를 통해 학생들이 지역을 이해하고 지역과 함께 성장하는 역량을 기를 수 있을 것으로 보고 있다. 교과서는 2026학년도 1학기부터 서산 관내 초등학교 3학년 수업에 사용될 예정이다.

Seosan Office of Education Begins Writing 3rd Grade Social Studies Textbook 'Our Region Seosan' for 2026

Elementary 3rd grade first semester social studies textbook name changed from 'Our Gojang' to 'Our Region'

The Chungcheongnam-do Seosan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Ji-yong) is proceeding with the writing of the local textbook 'Our Region Seosan' for the first semester of the third grade elementary school social studies course in the 2026 school year.

◆ Reflecting 2022 Revised Curriculum, Name Changed from 'Gojang' to 'Region'

The Seosan Office of Education recently held a development council meeting within the district and discussed textbook manuscripts that align with the new curriculum. Writing committee members composed of elementary school teachers from Seosan attended.

The textbook name changed from the existing 'Our Gojang Seosan' to 'Our Region Seosan'. This follows the 2022 revised social studies curriculum's removal of the term 'gojang' and introduction of the 'region' concept. The curriculum is designed to help students recognize their living spaces as learning venues where nature, society, and culture combine.

◆ Seosan's Natural Environment, Industry, and Culture Structured at Student Level

Writing committee members are describing Seosan's natural environment, industry, lifestyle, and community culture at student-appropriate levels. Production considers illustration materials, activity-centered composition, and digital textbook integration.

Education Division Chief Son Woo-seong visited the council meeting site and encouraged the writing committee members. Chief Son stated, "Local textbooks are educational assets that enable Seosan students to begin learning from their living foundations."

◆ Scheduled for Use in First Semester of 2026 School Year

The Seosan Office of Education expects students to develop competencies to understand their region and grow together with it through this textbook. The textbook is scheduled for use in third grade classes at elementary schools within Seosan starting from the first semester of the 2026 school year.
