◆ 124억 원 장학기금 조성...군민·단체 122건 기부

(재)진천군장학회(이사장 송기섭)는 2024년까지 124억 원의 장학기금을 조성했다고 9일 밝혔다.

장학회는 지난해 개인 42명과 단체 80곳으로부터 총 122건, 2억9천300만 원을 기부받았다. NH농협은행 진천군지부의 협력사업비와 기탁금 이자수익을 재원으로 활용해 안정적인 장학사업을 운영하고 있다.

◆ 1천396명에 4억1천만 원 지급...15개 분야 선발

장학회는 2024년 총 15개 분야에서 1천396명을 선발해 4억1천여만 원을 지급했다.

상반기에는 명문대 특별장학생, 우수 교원 인센티브, 다자녀 장학금, 관내 대학 특별장학금, 문해교육 학력 인정자 등 5개 분야 226명에게 1억2천800만 원을 지원했다. 하반기에는 희망사다리장학금, 특기 장학금, 다문화·북한이탈주민 자녀, 학력 신장 인센티브, 청소년 꿈 드림 장학금, 우수 학생 인센티브, 성적우수 장학금, 고3 응원 장학금 등 8개 분야와 온라인 강의 지원사업, 워킹홀리데이 지원사업을 포함해 1천170명에게 2억9천여만 원을 지원했다.

◆ 5년간 장학금 지원 확대...지역 인재 양성 기여

연도별 장학금 지원액은 2021년 3억6천202만6천 원(1천111명), 2022년 3억6천352만2천 원(1천105명), 2023년 4억6천360만 원(1천218명), 2024년 4억3천682만8천 원(1천266명)으로 집계됐다.

조윤정 진천군 교육지원팀장은 "진천군 장학사업은 지역사회가 함께 만들어 가는 나눔의 결실"이라며 "군민 한 분 한 분의 참여가 학생들의 꿈을 실현하는 힘이 되고 있다"고 말했다. 조 팀장은 "장학회가 지역의 미래를 밝히는 환경을 만들 수 있도록 장학사업 운영에 최선을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.

◆ 12.4 Billion Won Scholarship Fund Created...122 Donations from Citizens and Organizations

The Jincheon County Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Song Ki-seop) announced on the 9th that it has raised 12.4 billion won in scholarship funds through 2024.

The foundation received a total of 2.93 billion won through 122 donations from 42 individuals and 80 organizations last year. The foundation operates stable scholarship programs using cooperation project funds from NH Nonghyup Bank Jincheon County Branch and interest income from donations.

◆ 410 Million Won Provided to 1,396 Students...Selected from 15 Categories

The foundation selected 1,396 students from 15 categories in 2024 and provided approximately 410 million won.

In the first half, 128 million won was provided to 226 students in five categories: prestigious university special scholarships, excellent teacher incentives, multi-child scholarships, special scholarships for local universities, and literacy education degree recognition. In the second half, approximately 290 million won was provided to 1,170 students in eight categories including Hope Ladder Scholarship, Special Talent Scholarship, Multicultural and North Korean Defector Children, Academic Achievement Incentive, Youth Dream Scholarship, Excellent Student Incentive, Academic Excellence Scholarship, and High School Senior Support Scholarship, plus online lecture support and working holiday support programs.

◆ Expanded Scholarship Support Over 5 Years...Contributing to Regional Talent Development

Annual scholarship support amounts were 362.026 million won (1,111 students) in 2021, 363.522 million won (1,105 students) in 2022, 463.6 million won (1,218 students) in 2023, and 436.828 million won (1,266 students) in 2024.

Jo Yun-jeong, head of Jincheon County's Education Support Team, stated, "Jincheon County's scholarship program is the fruit of sharing created together by the local community," adding, "Each citizen's participation provides strong support for realizing students' dreams." Jo added, "We will do our best to operate scholarship programs so that the foundation can create an environment that brightens the region's future."
