논산시는 질적 성장을 나타내는 세부 지표에서 두드러진 성과를 거뒀다. 재방문율 45.7%, 평균 체류 일수 4일, 체류 시간 12.7시간, 평균 숙박 일수 6일, 1인당 카드 사용액 14만6000원 등 지역 경제 활력과 직결되는 주요 지표에서 모두 충남 1위를 차지했다. 21일 이상 방문하며 1일 이상 숙박한 장기 실거주 체류 인구 규모에서도 전국 4위, 충남 1위를 기록했다. 이는 방문객이 잠시 들르는 것에 그치지 않고 지역에 오래 머물며 숙박과 소비, 재방문까지 이어지는 선순환 방문 구조가 형성됐음을 보여준다.
◆ 관계 인구 확대 정책 추진…탑정호 복합문화 휴양단지 조성
논산시는 관계 인구 확대를 위해 다양한 정책을 추진하고 있다. 귀농·귀촌 희망자를 위한 '귀농인의 집' 임대, 청년·예비귀농인 임시 주거 공간 조성을 위한 '청년생활문화 허브 조성사업', 휴가지 원격 근무 환경 조성을 위한 '논산시 워케이션 조성사업' 등을 운영 중이다. 논산시는 현재 추진 중인 탑정호 복합문화 휴양단지 조성 사업을 통해 대한민국 대표 체류형 관광 도시로 도약한다는 계획이다.
