◆ 1년간 부문별 인성 중심 프로그램 운영

천안공업고등학교(교장 김병갑)는 2024년 12월 31일 본교 시청각실에서 '2025 BEST 천공 인재 대상제' 시상식을 개최했다. 1년 동안 진행된 인성 중심 인재 양성 프로그램 결실을 맺는 자리였다.

BEST는 학교가 지향하는 네 가지 인재상을 의미한다. B(Building Basics·교양인)는 효행·예절 등 바른 인성을 갖춘 인재, E(Enhancing Competency·자주인)는 봉사·동아리·방과후 등 활동에 주도적으로 참여하는 인재, S(Special Expertise·창조인)는 독서·문화예술·스포츠 등 다양한 재능을 갖춘 인재, T(Technology Pioneer·기술인)는 전공실무역량을 갖춘 기술 전문가다.

◆ 교직원·학생 모두 참여한 공정한 평가 체계

학교는 부문별 프로그램 운영 중 교직원 추천뿐 아니라 학생 자기·동료 추천 방식을 도입했다. 학생들이 자신의 학교생활을 성찰하도록 한 것이다. 심사위원회는 정직·책임·배려·소통 등 10대 인성 덕목과 BEST 인재상을 기준으로 공정하게 평가하여 수상자를 선정했다.

시상식에서는 전교생 중 최다 자격증을 취득한 학생에게 수여된 카본자전거를 비롯하여 학생들이 선호하는 다양한 부상이 전달됐다. 총 200여 명의 학생이 수상의 영예를 안았다.

◆ "바른 인성 갖춘 예비 명장으로 성장"

학생들은 단순히 기술만 우수한 기술자가 아닌 바른 인성을 갖춘 예비 명장으로서의 자세를 갖추는 계기를 마련했다.

김병갑 교장은 "예방과 실천 중심의 인성 교육을 통해 학생들이 행복한 학교생활을 영위하고 지역사회 발전에 기여하는 주도적 기술 전문가로 성장하길 바란다"며 "앞으로도 BEST 천공 인재 대상제를 통해 바른 인성과 실무 능력을 겸비한 인재 양성에 앞장서겠다"고 했다.

◆ Year-Long Departmental Character-Centered Program Operation

Cheonan Technical High School (Principal Kim Byung-gab) held the '2025 BEST Cheonggong Talent Award Ceremony' on December 31, 2024, at the school's audiovisual room. The event marked the culmination of a year-long character-centered talent development program.

BEST represents four talent standards the school pursues. B (Building Basics·cultured person) means talent with good character including filial piety and etiquette. E (Enhancing Competency·self-reliant person) means talent taking initiative in volunteering, club activities, and after-school programs. S (Special Expertise·creative person) means talent with diverse abilities in reading, culture, arts, and sports. T (Technology Pioneer·technology expert) means technology professionals with professional practical competency.

◆ Fair Evaluation System with Participation from Teachers and Students

While operating departmental programs, the school adopted student self-recommendation and peer-recommendation methods in addition to teacher recommendations. This encouraged students to reflect on their school experiences. The evaluation committee fairly assessed candidates based on ten character virtues—honesty, responsibility, consideration, communication—and the BEST talent standards, selecting award recipients.

At the ceremony, various awards preferred by students were presented, including a carbon bicycle awarded to the student who obtained the most certificates school-wide. A total of 200 students received awards.

◆ "Growth as Future Master Craftspeople with Good Character"

Students developed the mindset of future master craftspeople with good character, not merely as technically skilled technicians.

Principal Kim Byung-gab stated, "Through character education focused on prevention and practice, I hope our students grow into leading technology professionals who enjoy happy school lives and contribute to community development," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in nurturing talent combining good character and practical skills through the BEST Cheonggong Talent Award system."
